    fenders

Is there a place for fiberglass fenders in phoenix boats future. I love the way the boats looks sick as hell but i cant every see myself having metal fenders because of the rock dings and rust. I know fiberglass fenders are not immune to rock dings because i have them but if it was ever a problem i could just order new ones. Just wondering about the fenders.

    Re: fenders (lasabre)

I have the SS fenders and they have held up well and rig is on its second yr of service.
Also saw a boat at the factory where they had gator hided the fenders as well.
The last I knew of they where not going to offer fiberglass fenders, but things do change.

My trailer has the Gator Hyde and you don't have to worry about rust or rock dings. Best of all, it looks great. I've run boat trailers with fiberglass fenders and they flex when you step on them and they get rock chips as well, they just cost more to fix.

Also, if you ever have a blow out or run a flat until the tire tears up, it will generally tear up the fiberglass fender.

Have never owned a rig with fiberglass finder nor will I for that very reason.
Was with a friend a few yrs back when he had a blow out on a Triton and it destroyed the back half of the finder. The kicker is most of the time you have to buy them in PAIRS and not just one at a time.
Get the stainless steel you will be better off and no worries about rust or them getting dull.

As far as blowouts go you would rather have glass fenders because they will break. SS or metal fenders can bend in so much you can't pry them up off the wheels. With that said I think that's the only possitive thing about glass fenders. SS is the way to go and they look sharp!

Stephen that is what i was thinking as well. My dodge 3/4 ton had a blow out last year and it beat the rear quarter panel into complete submission, couldn't be saved. But in all looks of reality just how often do you have blow outs?
