    Trailer Wiring

I need some info on the wiring details of my new Bee Trailer. The existing wiring on my 05' Dodge truck has a 4 wire harness. The new trailer has 5 wires. The one extra is obviously for the trailer brake. It has surge brakes. My question is; when I get the 5 wire harness for my truck will the extra wire hook to the reverse lights of my truck? The trailer has reverse lights, does this 12 volt signal for the trailer reverse dis-engage the surge braking mechanism? Or, is it more complicated than that?

If your 05 Dodge is like my 04 Dodge on the back is a receptile for a plug in. Go to Walmart or a parts store and get a a plug in for it. I don,t know the exact name of the plug in but anyone in an auto parts store should be able to hook you up with what you need. All I had to do was plug this in to my fitting on my truck and then use the same 5 prong from the trailer and everything is good to go. The unit costs around 18.00 dollars for the one I got,it has a place for a 4 prong or 5 prong from the trailer. When I bought my Bee from Junior and Herbert I picked it up in Tenn near the factory and just pluged it into my truck and came on back to Phenix City, AL with no problems. The fitting on my trcuk is jsut to the left of the tag as you are looking at the bumper. Open the rubber cover and look at inside and you will get an idea of what you will need when you go to the auto parts store. Hopw this helps.

The fifth wire does hook up to you truck backup lights. It will operate your trailer backup lights and it locks out your trailer brakes to allow you to back up.

This is what you will need to get for your truck, the trailer plug will connect to the back side while the round part plugs into your trucks trailer plug. If your dodge came with a towing package there should be a 4 flat plug underneath some place...( or there was on my '07) I have used this same kind of plug on two different dodges '96 & '07 with two different brands of boats ('04 Triton and present '09 Phoenix 721)

    7 POLE (RV STYLE)
    BLACK VINYL
    TRAILER SIDE PLUG

The plug you need is the second one down on the page.

Or you could use this one
7 POLE (RV STYLE) ROUND TO 5 PIN FLAT TRAILER ADAPTER PLUG

Which is further down the page

Dang Topper I thought I was the only Bee in this area.......When I saw this post thought it was going to be the brake light wiring was backwards, but I guess not. Mine just had a mishap with the brake light on the left side was wired with the tail light, but that's the only thing I can find wrong with this rig.
