I was wondering if any of you guys that have 8 inches of setback had any issues with the hydraulic steering lines being to short or anything or am I good to go? My boat is a 2010 Z7 with a 200 xs. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

How hard would it be for me to install this plate myself? What all would I need? thanks for the info so far.
not to hard at all , youll need someway to support motor after you unbolt it from transom , and youll need the eyebolt to attach to the motor in the top of it then attach the hoist or cherry picker or something to support motor the motor weights roughly 500 lbs or so , then once you got motor pulled back just enough not too unhook steering cables, put the jackplate in place and use bolts that held hte motor to the transom and torque back to motor specs and then use bolts that came in the jackplate kit and torque them to the jackplate specs and youll be good to go , what i did was when i put the jackplate on i used the top holes on the jackplate to mount it to the transom . then youll need level the jackplate before you fully tighten the bolts . then after that once your done , i would raise the jackplate up till its 3 1/2 inches below pad as a starting point . if you dont feel comfortable doing it , i would take it to someone to do it that has done them , shouldnt take no longer than a couple hours if its a manual jackplate . hopefully that helps
You should have plenty of slack for 8" of setback, mine did.
Make sure you really check out all your measurements really good before your done, its a real pain have to hook up the lift again and unbolt everything to change the position of the engine on the jackplate (guess why I know this). If the engine is too low on the jackplate the steering could hit the jackplate when you lower it all the way. If its set to high you won't be able to lower it enough to help in really rough water. Also watch it closely when you trim it up for the first time, the steering hose fittings may hit sooner than it did before. Don't forget the 5200 (sealer) on the transom bolts.

Where on the bolts do you put the sealer? Sorry if its a stupid question I'm still new to this.
put the sealer around the transom bolt holes and a little in the holes too , it just seals the water out of the transom bolt holes once you get the jacklate on
