    Z7 storage compartments leaking

Well folks, I had to drive through a steady rain for a few hours yesterday. When I got home I found that all my storage compartments had leaked pretty badly. I think the water got through the lid locks even though the lock handles were folded down so that the o rings should have sealed out the water.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to stop the leaks? The boat is a 2009 Z7.

    thanks

just make sure the orings are good. Mine did pretty good on the last rain storm, but I trailered with my cover thru the worst of it. Steady rain for a few hours without the cover.

I think those were Perkos, talk to your dealer or check the website.

i think i may have found the problem. According to the Perko installation diagram, the lock/latch was not installed correctly. I will pull the latches and try to install them as per Perko instructions. Maybe this will fix the leaking.

    Re: (deadwood)

Mine screw together. Tightening the back nut helped stop the leaks around them.

Maybe we are not talking of the same thing. IDK

I've also suspected that some water gets in through the panel on the bow. There's no weather sealing up there at all.

My lid latches were put on wrong by Nitro when my Z7 was built. I called Perko for the third time yesterday to make sure. Carpeted compartment lids like we have are not supposed to have the round rubber seals put on. Neither above the lids nor below the lids. I pulled the seals off all six of my lids yesterday and tightened up the lock nuts really tight. I hope this fixes mine.
