    Thinking about heading south.

Hey guys, my wife and I are thinking about taking a trip south from North Dakota to do some bass fishing in Mississippi or Alabama this spring. We are thinking about possibly pickwick, wheeler, wilson, bay springs and I was wondering what you guys think of the lakes and what time of year is the best. We are thinking sometime between the middle of febuary and the middle of march. I'm not looking for any specific spots, but more so a time of year and what presentations to use at that time of year. Also if you know of any good resorts or marinas we could use. Thanks in advance for any information.

    That is a pretty boat!!

I would post a note on the state pages and see what kind of response you get.

As a Texan I am a little biased, don't overlook Fork, Toledo Bend, Rayburn, Amistad, Falcon, or a dozen others in Texas!

Fork and Falcon are on my list for 2012.

Thanks E5Zero. My wife and I went to Texas in 2007 and fished both Falcon and Choke Canyon. We also fished El Cuchio in Mexico. I would like to make a trip to Lake Fork some time but she really wants to see Memphis and Graceland.

my pick of lakes here (AL) is Lake Guntersville. Grassmats everywhere and huge fish. The weather that time of year here can be crazy sometimes. Feb its usually the coldest time for us 20s-30s and Mar varies. By the end of March it normally doesnt get below 60 and just heats up from there. If you do go to Wilson I would check out Double Head resort . . . super nice.

Bay Springs has a Marina close to the dam and There is a marina at East Port at PickWick.
I haven't been fishing since early November, but people tell me they're biting now at PickWick. I see a lot of boats going by the house on the weekends.
