    Prop question

Anyone running a trophy plus on their Alpha 211 with 250 Pro XS? I am currently running a 26 Fury and my set up is spot on with just me in the boat. I am looking for a prop to run in hot summer on tourney days. With the 26 Fury my hole shot is very poor with live wells full and hot temps. Less than I would like in cool temps with the live wells full. I was wanting to go to a Hydromotive 4 blade full time, but not sure I can justify the expense. Thinking maybe a trophy plus, which I ran on all my BCB boats. Any thoughts and help would be appreciated.

    Eric,
I run the 26P Fury and from time to time a worked 26P Trophy. I have to say that the Trophy is awesome on this boat and makes it handle like its on rails. I get pretty good spead with it too... 74.xx. I'd have no worries running it, I'm just lazy and don't change the set up on the jack plate

Hey Capt...you want to sell me that Trophy? Sounds like something I would like to try. I was thinking going down to a 25 in the Trophy though??

LOL... no i need a good spare! I honestly wouldn't go down to a 25 . I think the 26P is where its at and I know before the Fury came out, Legend shipped many 211's with the Trophy.
You could probably find one on the used prop section here on BBC.

I don't have anything to help here either. Not trying to hi-jack the thread, but I don't know which prop to put on mine either.

I will have a 250 pro xs on my new 211. Legend recommended the Fury 25, but I see most of the Legend guys run a 26. Looks like you may be looking for something different than that?

I am very close to you Eric, and will be fishing Barkley and Kentucky along with Indiana lakes, so conditions will be the same.

    Re: Prop question (jtvandev)

I've had trophys that are fast and some that are terrible. The 26p is the right one for your boat. They act totally different from your tempest/fury. Try one and see if you like it more than your three blade. If running a fairly moderate load the trophy can push through the water better than a tempest/fury can lift a boat over the water.

    Re: Prop question (jtvandev)

Like BTSMBASS said, 26P Fury or 26P trophy. You will have to adjust your jack plate depending on which one you select. The Fury keeps my nose up better but the Trophy makes the boat handle like nothing else. If I go to a small(er) lake with tight navigation channels etc. then I'll go with the trophy.
I know some guys run the 25P Fury, perhaps they could chime in.
Every boat has its little nuances so you may have to test a couple at various heights.

I know there are many guys out there that have WAY more prop/seat time than I do and I'm sure they will post eventually.
    Hope this helps some.

Cap...I am running a Hydraulic plate on my 211, so I can adjust as needed. I might just save up and get the Hydro 4 blade. No doubt it will fix my concerns.

I have had a hard time with props on my 211. The best I have found is the old style 25 tempest, and that only gives me 70mph loaded. Seems slow but that is all I can get out of it.

    Re: Prop question (Josh Herren)

Josh, my boat runs 77.5 GPS with the 26 Fury. But that is just me in the boat, almost full tank of fuel, and a light load of tackle. And my hole shot is fine with just me, but add another angler and some warm temps, and its a whale thrashing through the water trying to get up on top. I talked to the Hydromotove guy again, and he assures me his 4 blade intimidator is the perfect prop for the 211. Guess I will just bite the bullet and get one and be done with it.

    Re: Prop question (Eric Harris)

I saw my boat do 80 the other day, but it was behind my 2500 going down the interstate. If you can do 77 that is great but I really dont care how mine runs unloaded because it is always loaded and full of fuel and water. I would like to see it run 74 loaded and still come out of the hole like it does now. The 26 fury was a dog on my boat and the trophy drove like it was on rails at a smoking 65 mph. The bow lift is way better with a tempest than a fury and still gives great handling. I am going to try a worked 26 tempest when I get some time.

    Re: Prop question (Josh Herren)

Hi Josh, sounds like you might need to get dialed in with the jack plate? There's no reason you shouldn't get to, or close to 74 with the 26P Fury. One thing for sure, my boat with this prop needs weight at the back. Seems like the more the better. (Btw, I can't do 77 either)

The best tip I ever got was from BTSMBASS (Bryan) who told me about "feathering" the trim as you build speed. Basically what I found is that if you hammer up the trim its tough to turn the prop to its fullest. I couple of clicks at a time and it bites so much better, increasing your speed while keeping it in control.

I believe this prop fits the 211 very well. Give them a call.

For all out speed and light loads very few times will anything be quicker than the 27" tempest. Our boats do get quite bit more difficult to figure out once you start carrying a ton of tackle.

What happens when you throw a 250 SHO motor in the mix on the 211?

    Re: Prop question (Eric Harris)

Ok guys. Just talked to Todd at Hydro and ordered an Intimidator Quad IV for the 211. This guy knows his stuff and has a lot of testing time with the 211 Frank Scalish runs. The price is not as high as I anticipated...$799. By the time you buy a prop, have it blueprinted and balanced, you got that much tied up in any prop, unless you buy a used one. In short, with the boat tournament loaded, it should gain a few MPH and get a lot better hole shot. Frank also assures me that the boat will handle in rough water a lot better with the Quad IV. Give Todd a call 330-425-4394.

It's about 1mph slower. Will run higher on the plate, and the steering torque is way worse than a merc or bomb perfectly set up.

    Re: Prop question (btsmbass)

My 211 w/ a 26 Fury was a dog out of the hole as well and top end was in the 71-72 range and low 5k's on rpm's.. Hated the hole shot and new I could get more RPM's w/25 Fury so switched.. The 25 is great out of the hole but tourney loaded with 2 guys it is a struggle to get 69-70 running around 5800.. I only have the manual plate and have not messed with it to much..

I would love to find a prop that I could run 72-73 loaded down but highly unlikely here in Ohio given the elevation and all.. Same time not sure I want to drop $800+ for a prop to get couple extra mph..

    Re: Prop question (Hookerz Tackle)

Had the same problems at first JT. It was all about setup for me, not the prop. I spent a weekend messing with it and measuring pad height etc. Once I got it I made small tick marks on the jack plate with a sharpie so I could always replicate the setups for the trophy and the fury. Now don't ask me what those measurements were cause I already forgot!
