Just bought a 597ci and i am going to mount it thru-hull. I haven't gotten into the project yet, so i'm not sure where the old one is located just yet. Any tips for best results on location in the hull?

John,
I have a 2200 as well and my thru hull transducer is under the middle seat / arm rest. That's where Gambler puts them. I can read depth up to about 55-60 MPH and then lose it. I've heard that some of the 2100 - 2200 owners have removed the batteries / tray and cut a hole through the inner hull so the transducer is in the water at high speeds, but I didn't want any unnessary holes so I just put my transducer in the existing area between the seats.
Good luck and make sure you get a smooth surface and no air pockets in the epoxy when you mount it.
okay..I can live with that. I may get in touch with humminbird and get the exchange puck instead of using the one it came with. I'm not sure if the performance would be any better, but that way i can get a seperate temp probe so i can have water temp at the helm.
thanks for the come back Duie![]()
