Gambler Outlaw 2.6 VMAX
Contender 23T 400HP of 3 liter Opti power
Mercury Saltwater Pro Team
At a B.A.S.S. shoot out on Priest back about 10 years ago, we borrowed an over-the-hub prop from the Mercury truck. By gps my 2100 ran a tad over 90 mph. But the hole shot was terrible, in fact so bad I was beginning to wonder if it was ever going to break over. It was also very hairy to drive, as the 250 XB did not have a gearcase for that kind of speed. It was down right dangerous. For the official test we went back to a modified Trophy and the magazine published 84.6 mph. Not bad for 1600 lbs, 2 guys, full tank of fuel, and tackle.
Any way heis pretty talented. Shooting vidio and driving 104 kph at the same time![]()

It was a modified gear case, but still not stable enough for those kind of speeds. But, as Don Wirth who wrote the article for B.A.S.S. said, it proves it can be done. Now the only question remains...should it ever be done in the first place?
I ran a 30 pitch chopper once, was unable to get it over on my own, had to have someone get up front and still make a tight turn to get the bow to break over. Only time to ever see 80 with 2 one board. But about the time it hit 80 it blew out, the guy I was with prolly wished I never bolted it on![]()

I know mine is alot smaller boat but I now have the power to run well into the mid to upper 80's with this Yamaha. I will say I do not know if I will ever take it there. I am runnin 83 now with a 27 tempest @ 6300 RPM and could run a bigger prop easily if I wanted but I dont think I feel safe enough to run it that fast. It does seem dangerous above 80. I do have a need for speed but a bigger need for life. The water here in Oklahoma will not calm down enough for me to run it on up either. I was runnin 80+ in a tx with my son in the boat with me last weekend and rounded a corner and hit a combination boat wake. That will never happen again, too much traffic on the lake now to run like that. My new Humminbird came loose from the bow and hit me in the face boat did a 90 degree turn and stopped on a dime. We were OK but could not gaurentee we could be so fortunate again.
2001 GAMBLER 2100 W/2010 250XS
1995 GAMBLER INTIMIDATOR
I saw a Triton doing 88mph in Texas........and I passed him with my Gambler doing 90mph. Gamblers will do 90+......Especially on the Indian Nation Turnpike on the way to Lake Fork !!!!! So technically, my Gambler has done over 90 many times.![]()
PS....I get a big kick out of the fact that the only thing fisherman exaggerate more than their catches is their boat speeds !!!!! LOL

hey i love you guys enthusiasm, but i am calling BS on all of you claiming anything near 90 in a GAMBLER with a stock 250, tournament loaded....
check this...i've got a 2003 outlaw (rated for a 200hp) but i've got a 2002 225 EFI on the back, and tourney loaded with two guys and 40 gallons of gas, but empty live wells, i am running 77.9 with a 27 trophy at 5800....
empty by myself i've only seen 80.1....
My dad has a 2001 INTIMIDATOR 2000, with a 2005 250 XS(274 actual hp) turning a 27 FURY, and at 6100 tournament loaded, 30 gallons of gas, empty livewells, 2 people, 82mph with a perfect chop....
Now you are telling me, that you guys with the same 250's(xb or xs) on a 2100 loaded pretty much the same are running 90's, or even high 80's...
im not calling BS, but i'm gonna have to SEE it, and then i want you to come set mine up...![]()

YOu need to look back in the old B.A.S.S. magazines of about 10 years ago and read the article. I also have pictures of the gps reading 90 and change. I really do not appreciate being called a liar, especially when there is proof galore.
ok, i might believe that there are some out there that may run 84 mph when completely empty(no tackle/water/gas)
but 90...that would take one with a 300....
shoot ask MATT MC, with the red 2200....he's spent more time dialing his in than anyone i know...
***again...im just saying that i do not believe there is a 2100 out there with a stock 250 of any make that will run mid to High 80's while FULLY LOADED.....***
