    Water inside cowling

I have a 99 175 hp FICHT and after a day out on the water I took the cowling off at the ramp and saw that there was water splashed all over inside of the cowling on the engine, what would cause this?? Blown head gasket?? Not trimming the motor properly when comming off plane, it is on a 19ft champion.

I would suggest, if you have a flushing device, remove the motor cover... and with water attached....start the motor and see if there is a leak, if not it could just be the way you slow the boat and the following sea is running back into the cowl vents, just a guess on my part.
