    Transom saver Question

I dont know what it's called other than a transom saver. I was fortunate enough to meet TexaBamaBass in person yesterday and we went fishing in his BassCat with a 200 E-Tec HO on it. MAN WHAT A MOTOR!!!! Once we got the boat back on the trailer, I was helping Kelly get the boat ready for the road and asked him for his transom saver. He smiled and pointed at the outboard. Instead of the flip down lever, there was a device built into the tilt/trim mechanisim that locked into the mount bolted to the JP. Seems to be similar to the lock and stow Merc uses.

Can I get something like that for my 78 Johnson 150? Sure would like to quit having to use the transom saver I currently use!

    Re: Transom saver Question (kf4pfw)

Seen one on Denny Bauer's boat at the Ranger Owners tourney, ask him where he got it. He didn't know of course, said it came with his boat, even though it had is name engraved on it. Guess he just gets in um and runs um. Never fixes his prop either, it was beat to heck......

It wasn't the factory installed bracket that comes on 'em?

    Re: Transom saver Question (KellyJoe)

I first used the transom saver that came with the boat. I didn't like the way it made my motor dirty(white motor), so I tried the factory fold-down brace. It seemed too rigid so I got the M-YWedge which seems to supply more cushion for the motor on rough roads. The only problem was even with hydro steering, the motor would lean about 1/3 to one side on a 30 mi. trip to the closest lake. I solved the problem by buying a piece of 3/4'' washing machine hot water hose and cutting it in two pieces, plus splitting it down one side, to fit on either side of steering shaft. This works great and keeps the motor straight, even on the longest trips. The hose is a light red color and tends to remind me to remove it before I launch the boat.
