    Prop blowing out on 2100

The boat starts feeling very loose in the steering wheel and then the nose takes a dive to the left. Always around eighty. I have put the motor down as far as it will go. And raised it to 3 on the dial. I have tried trimming down, up, andMoving the plate up and down. Steering goes loose either way. By loose I mean that you can not feel any motor torque on it. I will get all the info as far as bolt location to the bobs plate this evening.

Are you sure it's your prop blowin out? sounds to me like you hit the rev limiter on your motor and it's going into guardian mode? what motor you running and what rpm are you at when this happens?

that's definately a blow out on a Gambler. What kind of prop are you running. Mine will blow out right around that same speed, I can feel it get a little loose and if you bump the trim one time it will fall off pad and hook left. I've blown out my PowerTech several times, but haven't been able to blow out the TXP. It looses speed when I trim before it looses bite, so no need to go anyhigher.

YOU NEED TO GET YOUR LOWER UNIT WORKED LIKE THE TORQEMASTER...
IT WILL HAVE A SLIGHT NOTCH CUT OUT RIGHT BELOW THE AXLE HUB AT THE TOP OF THE SKEG AND THE BACK SIDE OF THE SKEG WILL HAVE A EVER SO SLIGHT ANGLE MOLDED INTO IT...ANY LOCAL OUTBOARD PERFORMANCE SHOP CAN DO IT, AND KNOWS EXACTLY HOW TO DO IT...MINE COST 185 BUCKS....BEST 185 I'VE SPENT ON IT...AND I'LL GUARANTEE IT WILL FIX IT...

You need a nose cone sounds like to me. I had the same problem and a Bob's nose cone fixed me right up.

The motor is a 2009 250 pro xs. It is bolted in the thrd bolt from the top. The blowout seems to happen around 5900 rpms. I know that this motor has the verarado lower unit with the low water pick up. I am turning a 26 fury. Is it mAybe the three blade prop that isn't getting enough bite?

NO NO NO...trust me...the VERADO lower unit is a HEAVY duty lower unit, but is not designed for high speeds...
whats happening is the torque that is placed on a skeg at higher speeds causes you to unconsously counter behind the wheel, which will cause your boat to become unlevel on the bottom pad, causing a blowout...
the torquemaster already has this alteration from the factory, but you can have it done for CHEAP...cost me $185 at SANDERSON MARINE in Virginia...

Re: Prop blowing out on 2100 (gamblerfreak)

I have a 2100 with a 250 ProXS and mine would do the same with a 26P and 27P Trophy. Ever since I went to a 28P Hydromotive Quad IV , 28P Trophy, or 28P Bravo 1 all worked by Mark Croxton the problem went away. All I can figure is these props are larger in diameter not just pitch and they don't let loose. The only difference is my motor has a torquemaster gearcase compared to yours. Good luck.

THAT IS WHAT THE TORQUEMASTER IS DESIGNED FOR...
buy redirecting the TORQUE created by the spin of the prop, it allows you to hold the steering straight, thusfore keeping the pad level...

Re: Prop blowing out on 2100 (low slung cruiser)

    Sounds like blowout to me.
The VERADO case IS NOT the gearcase for a Gambler.
The torqueMaster would be your best bet.
A skeg mounted TORQUE TAB will help stop the crabbing of your lower unit, to stop the AIR POCKET that forms at the nose of the gearcase causing PROP BLOWOUT!
