    New To the gambler family

Well Just picked her up,2000 2100 with a 2005 merc 225 opti 27'' tempest prop 8'' hydrolic jack plate.Ive never owned anything like this before.I went from an old 88 skeeter with my 125 to this.I have allot to learn and have allot of questions .I took it out on my own today me and my best friend. It feels like I was driving a pento last week and now I am in a Vette lol.Ive never drove anything this fast before,Its going to take seat time I can tell.I noticed at 65mph it wants to start rocking from side to side, is there something I maybe do doing wrong? It had so much pedal left I wanted more speed but I was cautious not knowing......

So my first question is, Why Does the boat rock side to side at higher speeds is this normal or is it something I am doing wrong?

congrats on the boat. the rocking is called chine walk. that is something that is gonna, happen. the only thing you can do is drive it as much as you can to learn what the boat is doing and what needs to be done to correct it. little bumps to the left at the right time. basically you are balancing it on pad. it would help while you are learning to drive it to fill up just the passenger side livewell. take you time and you will be doing it with out even thinking about it at 80 in no time. it would also help to have someone familiar with faster boats to ride with you and give some tips.

    oh and we need pics

But yeah that chine walk is kinda wild lol.....I guess seat time and some patiance.Thats a pretty cool Idea with filling up the live well never thought of that.

You want your motor between 2"-2.5" below the pad. Measure your propshaft to pad level, and then associate it with you JP gauge so you know what your P to P level is in inches corresponding to your gauge. Also, stay off the trim in this boat. It will be nothing like your skeeter, very little trim will lift the boat to where it wants to be. I NEVER spray over level with the top of the cowl, if you over-trim it will cause it to chine walk bad and possibly blow out. Try getting the boat up on pad with the motor still trimmed all the way down; bring it up to a decent speed, but be careful b/c it will make your steering very sensitive with it trimmed all the way down on pad. Once your up on plane and moving, start bumping up on the trim a little bit at a time. each time you bump it, pause for a minute and pay attention to how the boat lifts. you will get the hang of it. Also, starting out, try holding steady pressure to the left on the steering wheel when it starts chine walking. You will learn to bump it when the bow swings back toward you and pretty soon driving out of it will become second nature.

    Re: (t_nipper_74)

on mine, when i've got it trimmed all the way up, the nose actually is up high enough to somewhat block your view, but as long as i've got my jackplate between 3-4 i can ride smooth till about 72, after that, I HAVE TO TRIM IT DOWN to about 1/2 trim to keep it from BLOWING OVER BACKWARDS(not actually), or so it feels...
in other words, like 2 nipper said, put your JP on about 3, and slowly work the trim up...NOT ALL GAMBLERS NEED THE FULL TRIM...

yeah it doesnt have a jack plate gauge just a trim gauge but its not working.

its the stock gambler gauge and it sounds like I should install a jack plate gauge.

im so new at this stuff but im not afraid to learn but i am afriad to mess it up.

how much did the jack plate guage run?

And does anyone have any tips to track down the problem of my trim guage ive been reseaching it allot on the basic search but id rather talk to the guys who run the same style boat.

Probly the sending unit on the motor its self,,,,,, black, round and has 2 or 3 wires coming out of it, held in by two bolts,,, pull it off and look to see if theres any rust.
left side of motor when looking from the back on the top of the mid section,,, somebody might have a pic
