    motor too low....

Measured prop to pad height today to realize motor appears to be too low. Measured 5" below pad. Here's the problem, motor is in last hole on JP and plate is jacked all the way up. Not sure what make of plate I have, but it's a 10" setback, manual plate.

Boat walks pretty bad @ 70mph, probably as a result of the motor being so low. Currently running a 24P Raker prop, but after reading on here I was/am going to upgrade to a 26p tempest. I wanted to get motor moved up to 3" below pad and start from there.

Anyone else have a similar problem w/ their Jackplate? What did you do? I would LOVE a hydraulic plate but $$ is tight right now w/ a newborn at home.

    Re: motor too low.... (JF1)

I had to redrill my jack plate when I got it so I moved the Jack plate to the top of the transom where most boat mfg mount thier jaclkplates and it helped tremendously and the handleing is far better and it is much faster. My jack plate is hydralic and it still needed to be moved I can get my motor 5 inches higher with this combo than I could with my manual JP and I needed all of it to get max performance. Some JP have a built in angle in them and that helps my old manual did not have this feture. My Bobs machine shop JP does.

I think RapidJack makes a plate to solve your issue. You might find a good used one and sell yours.

I went and bought an Atlas JP and I was able to raise it a lot more than it needs. You will need to drill out the hles n the JP to match the bolts on the Gambler. Mine is a 95 209 and I drilled 4 holes in a brand new JP because Gambler didn't use the boating industry standards. I don't know when the standards were implemented but.....

If you order a new one let them know the bolt spread and they will drill it for the gambler, It depends on how your stringers run as too which bolt pattern you have. Bought a rapid-jack last year and they drilled it perfect.
