    different between x21b and x21

I'm just curious if the hull is the same between the x21b and x21 I know the top cap is different wondering if the bottom is the same. If so why is it that the bass boats are able to get so much more speed compared to the bays console can't make that big of a difference

not sure if all the bay boats r hyper lift hulls or not. if u are referring to your setup i would say ur numbers seem reasonable.

I figured that there would have been a little more input on here

All the specs are listed on the Xpress website. You can see there if there's any difference between the 2

I don't think there are many bay boat owners on here so we're all mostly familiar with the bass boat hulls. Sorry...

That's what I'm asking about I've always been under the assumption and impression that the bay and bass boat are the same hull on the bottom just different top caps

"If so why is it that the bass boats are able to get so much more speed compared to the bays console can't make that big of a difference"

What kind of performance are you talking about? A x21 Bass with a 200 would only do around 60ish loaded, your numbers are not far off. You lighten up and add a 250 and 70 and above would be possible.

I'm thinking that it also has to do with gear ratio as well on the lower unit mine is a 2.0 and most 2 strokes are 1.75 so I think that has something to do with it as well.

gear ratio is a large part of it. on a high speed hull with very high pitched props high gear ratio 4 strokes will put up some good speeds. on a less performance hull ie xpress u will not see the top end without some major tuning and testing. im runnin a suzuki 250ss on my x21 bass hull w/ 10" jack plate 2.08 gear ratio. i can barely touch 70 mph on a good day but the thing is a monster out of the hole and pulls hard all the way 2 65 mph. with say a 250 hpdi or 250xs im sure top speed would be much better due to the lower gear ratio and 2 stroke power. these big xpress boats arent as light as people think takes some ponies to get em movin.

Hull is exactly the same. Top cap is different. Add in the tall center console and 2 people standing and you may have SOME added resistance. Also, ive noticed that most bay boats dont go as big on the motors as the bass guys. Bass guys on here put 150 through 200s on their X19s but 80-90% of H20B you see will have a 115 and the H18B can be had with a 90 -115HP. Hell the H22B only comes with a 150HP. I guess the bay guys arent as concerned with a go fast set up.
