    Gambler Set up and speeds

Hi Everyone I'm Chris, I have a 1994 Gambler SuperSport/ Stallion ( I've heard it called both) It is a closed deck boat. I am running the stock set back jackplate ( 6")
I have a 2000 2.5 Steel sleeved motor ported to 260 specs 5 pedal rubber coated reeds, MAD EFI front half and I just recieved my gearcase back from Titus ( its winter here so will not be able to test untill spring) My best speed before this gearcase mod was 82.4 gps. Was wondering what some of you other guys are running for set up. By the way my stock plate is as high as it will go and I have 1 hole left on the motor to go.

I seem to be faster on a full load of fuel say around 40 gal than when I'm running aroung 8-10??? any ideas on that.

I appreciate any info or tips you mave have. I really like the boat and am looking for an honest 90+ out of her................even if it means Nitrous

Re: Gambler Set up and speeds (flubyu)

I'll see what I can do about some pics, boat is in storage for winter ( in one of my barns)
SUPER clean rig, not a scratch on the bottom......Typical Gambler colors ,red, black and silver metalflake. There is a video of it running on youtube under how fast can you go me and a buddy that has a 25' Motion with twin 280 mercs running about 120 on gps.

Come on guys tell me what you have found that works and maybe even what you tried that didn't work so well. Best prop for me so far is a worked 25 trophy, that and a stock Mazco HP-4.

I know some of you got some fast ones lets here how you got em there..................

Re: Gambler Set up and speeds (specboatops)

i would also like to see some pics...there were a couple of different models of that boat...the stallion had a short enclosed front deck, while the later 206 had a fully enclosed front, like some of the hydrostreams...which by the way had a lot of influence on the gambler hulls..i know nothing about setting up one of those rigs...but my guess would be some more setback, and some different props to try....i am not a 4 blade fan for speed...and i might even look at trying a chopper style prop on that rig...i will always say...for all out speed...look for a good 3 blade...

Re: Gambler Set up and speeds (ldbass55)

Thanks for the comments, I've tried 3 blade props, just don't seem to want to lift the boat???? I'll try again after installing the new gearcase. I promise I will try on some pics
been busy with kids and trying to keep snow piled up around the farm.

I had tried more set back about 2 years ago and the boat just ran flat......Maybe I didn't have enough height on the motor.........so I might try more set back again as well.

Come on guys I know some of you have some better ideas than me..............lets hear em

You never said what your current motor hieght was. You need to get a measurement of the propshaft in relation to the pad. After that then, someone will let you know if you should go higher. IMHO you arent carring any weight up front so the bow should be fairly light and bow lift shouldnt be a problem. If it were me I would be try'in to run around even + or - and half inch.

Re: Gambler Set up and speeds (K-DAWG)

I believe I am 2 inches below the pad ( BUT now I've got a worked case to try) before I would lose water pressure. Thanks for your post.............I really want to get this thing to 90 and I thin I can but we'll see.............its tuff to even gain 2-4 mph. I know its a heavy boat I've been told to go with a 3.0 liter and to get away from the 2.5 on this hull
just can't seem to bring myself to that point yet.

Keep this post alive keep throwing ideas at me boy's !!

There's an '86 Stallion listed on the Gambler Owners List a little ways down the page. Jeff from Wisconsin owns it. Apparently is running it 1/2" above the pad.

Man that sounds like you've really got that one dialed in.
I'm going to do some more experimenting with props this year.........it can get expensive quick unless you know people willing to let you try one of theirs. I think I have about 4 or 5 props now a 23 Trophy, a 25 Trophy, a 26 Trophy worked by Remco ( that motha moves ) a 3 blade 26 chopper ( sucks balls on my application ) and a Mazco HP-4 25 that runs out pretty well.

No, i ran a flat 90 once!!!!......The boat was mid to high 80's!!!!...I would never recommend anyone try it again in a outlaw....That little boat isnt meant to do those speeds...Lower unit would need to be worked to do it safely
