    Electronics on a Gambler

What are you guys running for electronics? How big of a unit can you get in the trolling motor trough and at the console? I really want to run a big screen up front, but not sure which way to go.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had a 28HD there and I had a guy shorten the height of it. You can have it cut down (mount bracket) so it will not hit the trolling motor. I know longer have a Gambler but I have had three in the past five years. I am in a Triton and outside of a place to put my graphs I do miss the G-boats. I guess my heart will always be with the G-boat. I never could get over the crouds of people that drew to them boats.

when you say "cut down" what part are you referring to? The backet that comes with the unit or the bracket on the boat?

I am talking about the braket that comes with the unit.I first seen this on Ashmore's green 2200. because the unit will fit in the trolling motor tray you will tilt the unit to face up therefore you have to cut the height of the braket that comes with the 28hd if you don't do this you will have to have Gambler use biger shims on your trolling motor to get the clearance between the two. It will almost clear the trolling motor I am only talking about a inch or so.If you go with a 520 you will not have to do this.I like the bigger sonar unit and the 28hd is as tall and wide as you can put in that location.

I have a LCX 27 up front I shortened the bracket by cutting about 1 inch out of the center of the two uprights then welded it back together.. I also had to trim some of the plastic off of the outside of the knobs to get enough clearance to screw the knobs into the unit.. You may need to play around with the exact spot to mount the bracket into the well because there is just enough room in there between the foot control and the trolling motor plug.. My foot control clears the LCX 27 by about 1/8th of an inch..
It looks nice and works well even though it is very tight..
