    X19 Trolling motor length

I have an x19 with 200hp 4-stroke. I'm looking at a new trolling motor and my shaft length choices are 45" or 60". I'm wondering will the 45" be too short?

    Thanks,

    Sean

If you had a 45 before and it worked well ,I would buy another. 60 inch motors are generally for big water and deeper v boats. I have a 45 on my 20 foot Champion and it works well until you fish in foot tall waves. It is hard to control the boat when the trolling motor is coming out of the water. If I bought a new trolling motor today it would be a 52 inch Fortrex.

The 45 was too short for my X-19, but the Great Lakes are pretty choppy.

52in Fortrex. If you are getting the power drive/non cable drive your gonna want the 60. I bought a 45in cable steer for a backup and it was too short.

Thanks for the replies! I had a 52" Fortrex until it quit. Looking at the Ulterra but didn't want 60" of trolling motor on deck if I didn't have to.
