    Difference in speeds

Ok, I'm a new gambler owner. (98 Int 225 merc efi). I'm going back and forth on all the other owners sites and I'm seeing a big seperation on top speed numbers. How can there be such disparity on basically the same set ups but just different brand of boat. I'm not talking about 5-10mph I'm seeing almost 20mph in so called gps speeds.
I understand the internet, and I understand fish stories, Am I looking at the same type of questionable info on such a really important issue. To be very honest here Its been about two years since I have driven a prop boat, it was an old procraft witha 200 on the back about 62mph on its best day.. Since that I have been running a jet boat (Yamaha AR 230 Wakeboard boat) that absolutely handles like a corvette I'm a little apprehensive about just getting in this thing (my new gambler) and going wot..But I'm sure after plenty of seat time in this bad boy I'll get her dialed in but I need a starting point.

It's all in what you want to do,The allison and stroker will smoke a gambler, they are lighter and designed to be go fast boats from the factory, and take into account that the weight you carry in a boat, tackle, fuel, partner will make a big difference and how much experience the driver has and the time that has been taken to set the boat up. A three blade prop that will carry your boat well may be several mph slower on mine because of the setup. I carry everything i own in my boat and most of the weight is upfront where my other boats carried most of the weight in the rear. I am still playing with mine to see what works best on top end and when i get there i am going to drop my pitch down by two because i like a responsive boat more so than top speed. If i need top speed i can change my prop in two minutes. Some of these guy's are not running stock motors and don't bother stating that. I have seen motors taken out of the crate and rebuilt before it ever saw a boat. Most of these gambler owners will be upfront and honest with you. I have learned a lot from these guy's and not once have they let me down.

I think properly setup you should consistently see 78 to 80 once you learn how to drive it...
