Have you got the boat with the 300 dialed in yet? I may have missed some info. Last I recall you had a 300 with 1.75 gears ( i think ) ordered.

Hey Jason,
Yes, I have been running the 300/1:75. I have run a few props and as far as the Gambler with being as heavy as it is, I think it is the way to go. Last I heard Gambler was starting to order the 300's with 1:75gears. I know all the flats boats have the 1:75's that they are building. We have been running mostly the et props on them. Steve has had some of his friends running the props I have given him and one guy with the 21 with the 300 is in the low to mid 89's, In January, I am supposed to bring some props to Kissimmee to meet some guys to run the props. I think if the weather is cool enough, that guy should hit 90. Mercury has told me to let anyone who wants to run them to show up. So we may have a variety of boats as we did at Istapoga.
I will have a worked 27 trophy, two 28 lab finished et's, a 28 pro finish et, a 30 lab finished et and a lab finished 28 bravo for the guys to try.
I will probably try and sell this boat in the next month. So I may show up without a boat. But anyone in the area who would like to try these props are more then welcome to try them.
Ungotz,
I appreciate the help on your recommendation of which ET Prop I should purchase. I picked up the 28 Pro finished ET and I will tell you so far I am very pleased. It runs from bottom to top much better than my 26 trophy did. It is amazing how much difference it makes on my 2200/300xs. The following are areas of improvement over the other Prop.
Loading boat on trailer: In the past I have struggled to get my trailer at proper depth depending on which ramp I was at; meaning the majority of the time it means me getting my feet wet to crank it up to where it needs to be. This has been pretty embarrassing as some will testify if you have a 300 hanging off the back. With this prop I have to be carefull that the boat doesn't end up in the the back seat of the Yukon. Difference is night and day in this area.
Hole Shot: Is as advertised. Once you hit the gas and it catches you are gone and doesn't stop until you let off. I have had no blow out problems thus far.
Bow Lift: This is an area that with the 26 Trophy I had some huge concerns. This prop makes a big difference. I can tell you that I run a heavy load and the bow lift is far better than what I had before. For the first time it seems as though the boat is actually riding where it is supposed to be on the running pad.
Turns: Holds tight in turns and gives no indication that it is going to let go.
Mid Range: Substantial difference over the 26 Trophy. Much more power and bite in this area.
Top End: I was very impressed with how quick it got up to top end speeds. I was not able to run it in the best water conditions as well as the fact that the air temp was low 70's. I ran it up to 80-81 a couple of times and had to back off due to chop and swells. my RPM was 5450 at these speeds. I did not have a chance to really dial the jack plate and trim in because of the water conditions and small area that I had to work with.
Overall: Although I have only been able to take the boat out twice since I put the new prop on. I have to say I am very impressed with the current results.
Question: Should I change out the 1:62 gears to the 1:75?
Sorry for the long report but I thought I would share what I have experienced with this prop so far.
man...i would love to try that 30 labbed....hope it around the end of january...i will be tied up the 3rd week....

That pro et sounds good. I wish I had trim tabs. The only thing I dislike about my gambler is the hole shot. I would give up some top end for a ranger holeshot. I am runing a 27 trophy now. I have a 26. I can't see any improvements on hole shot and the 26 turns to many rpm's.
I'd like to try a bigger pro et. I was going to play with my 30 on topend sunday while carring a full fishing load and full fuel. I ran it up to 83 or so on my way back and my rpms were too high (6500) and I was at 1 1/2 below I ended up having to drop to about 3 below to reduce the rpms to 6100. Then i noticed I had blew the pass seat out of the boat sometime and didn't know it. I had to run back up and look for the seat, after running about 10/12 miles at 25 mph I finally found it. Apparantly the screw had worked loose and out she came.![]()

At that point I gave up and went home. I have had the 30 to 85 at 5900 before on a 1/4 mile short run. But haven't really tried for top speed with it. Dunno what had gotten in to the merc but she was turning some rpm. Maybe its the new alysin oil I am running?? I was really hoping to bust 90 oh well maybe later.

LD,
I will put it to Steve to shoot for the end of January. I know you and I had talked about the time frame they would send me the 30. I really would like to see you run that prop. I will work on it.

Kissimmee, huh.... do you know a date or where on Kissimmee your going to be playing? I may not have a Gambler anymore, but some of those props would be fun to run on the Bullet!!!!

I will talk to Steve next week to try and lock down some time frames. It doesn't matter the name on the side, you know you are more then welcome to come and try the props.![]()
Thanks Preston. I didn't think the name on the side of a boat regulated you feelings. You are such a good guy for Gambler, and Mercury. Hope to see ya soon.
Everyone have a Great Holiday.
