motor gets a miss at WOT

I have a 1985 Johnson 140 "J140txcos" took it out the other day did fine when first started after getting the boat on plane felt like the boat had a miss. Got boat up to WOT and the miss got worse. What could cause this? Please help?

i had this same problem on my 85 115 and the plugs were fouling up. I premixed the motor and used penzoil synthetic blend. I changed the plugs and started using amsoil and the problem went away.

Could also be a out of adjustment timer base linkage. Causing your engine to be out of time.
