New setback test results 2200 Gambler

Just a reminder I have a 2200 gambler 300PM. 10 inch bobs with 1in spacer between a 4in panther/detweiler spacer. With tape it measures 15 1/2 from the transom back.

I was currently running a 10bobs with 2in spacers and a 29 Hydromotive/mark croxton prop. It ran 86mph @ 6100 at 2 1/4 below the pad.

With the new set back I ran 87 and could turn the engine all the way to 6600. I could also hit 87 any where from 2in @ 6200 all the way to 1/2 below the pad @6600. Mph stayed the same just rpm increased. The boat seemed more lively at the higher engine heights prolly due to the fact the sportsmaster was running high. Topend came quicker than before. I see no reason to doubt, she'll run about the same mph with a tourney load and will result in a loss of rpm. Which I need cause 6600 is 400/500 rpm too much. Should find out this weekend. I am going to need to spin a few bigger wheels to take advantage of the new ability to run the engine high. Fellas I think 90's are on the way. I think I am going to start with a 30 hydro/mark croxton prop. And maybe a 30 txp.
I've got a video but it looks the same as the others I posted a few months ago. Didn't see any reason to post it. I'll try to get a few pictures of the setback in a few days.

Do you get any of the mild porpiseing at high speeds? It is a very slow up and down motion of the bow not really a true porpoise? I have some of that with one of my props and it only happened after I added 2" more of setback 12" total.

Shumba I have noticed some slight porpiseing but not at high speeds. If your running a low trim angle and accelarating slow mine will porpise a little. To keep it from happening I either trim up to lift the hull or speed up to let the hull naturally lift. It seems when mine does it, its wanting to make the transition to get on the pad but their isn't enough power or trim. I like to ride high when just crusing. But riding high costs me a few mph at WOT and I'll have to trim down to pick up the extra few mph I lost.

I haven't crossed any massive rollers yet but it seems to have stiffened up the whole engine area. Guess I'll see what it looks like the next time I find a barge or house boat!!!!!!!!!

Did the added setback have any impact on the holeshot? I am tempted to add another 2" to mine but am afraid that the holshot might suffer..

didn't really affect my 2200 on holeshot. Prolly because of the prop though. My holeshot is pretty quick even with out the foil on it now.
