I need some help on a new prop

I read here almost daily and I still have not seen a consensus on the absolute best prop for the 2200 250XS combination.
The two props I have now are a 25 Trophy and a 27 Trophy. My boat still has not seen 80 mph. The best speed I have seen is 79.7 , with the 27 , and that was only one time.
I finally have the cash for a prop and want to make sure I spend it wisely.
Any help getting the right prop and getting the boat set up would be appreciated
    Thanks

Send WDBrand an IM. He ran that same setup.

Re: I need some help on a new prop (GE Blazer)

    Hey Mark,
You might remember I have the same boat as you right down to the colors, came from Key as well. I have had my 26Tro tweaked by Mark and the best I have ever gotten was 79.6 or so. However, I have a 28 Hydromotive QIV That Marked did his work to and I am just below 82 with that prop. WD told me a last year that to try the Hydro as it was the best handling prop he had used. I agree fully. However, he also said it was not as fast as the Trophy. I dont know if my Trophy needs more tweaking but the Hydro is faster for me. I am running theh 2" spacers and at 5 1/4 on the jackplate, giving me 12 lbs wot. The Hydro is turning 6050 RPM. The Trophy is turing 6200 and that may be why it is not as fast as WD said it should be. Maybe it needs to come down to @ 6000 also. Mark did one other thing to my Hydro and that was to weld the 15/16 vent holes up and drill dual PVS holes at the base of each blade. He had to do this because of problems that developed after working the prop. Before the prop was workde the hole shot with it was unreal. Absoloutely the most explosive hole shot of any bass boat I have been in. The prop would wind up and then bite the water launching the boat. After doing something to the blades with the cup I believe he said, it would not bite the water and would blow out. With the new dual hole setup I have two of the top holes fully plugged and the other two with large hole plugs the bottom four are fully open and the hole shot is not as good as it was but it is nearly equal to my 26 Trophy, which is pretty good. Hope this helps you some ..

Jason, you must have confused a trophy with a turbo TXP, I am not a trophy fan for my gambler. The 3 blade txp will likely be the fastest 3 blade. The hydromotive QIV-X (large barrel) is a very good 4 blade for a 2200, with 1 inch exhaust holes and a flared end section set up for a 2200.

Maybe so, that is the exact Hydro I have Large barrel with the flare, Mark did modify the venting though. Great Prop. Sorry about the confusion with the Tro and TXP

Jason, What speeds were you running with the Quad before you had the mods done. I fish in stump infested lakes,Fork and Ray Roberts,so I have to have a prop that is tough enough to take some abuse, NO blade thinning.
I'd love to have the holeshot you were talking about because there are places on the lake that I don't use my tabs for fear of ripping them off the boat, Tore one off last year.
WD, I'd like to hear your thoughts on a txp. I don't know anything about them, don't even know who makes it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Mark,
Before the mods I was around 79.5, Never broke 80 with it. I was running a 28 and that was 5750 RPM. I know that Hydromotive has a trade in policy if the Prop you buy does not suit you. I would try a 27 first and see if the additional 200 RPM gets you above 80. I figure a 27 should have that boat at 5900-6000. The Hydro is a very thick bladed prop, it can take some abuse. As far as the hole shot it will do the job without the tabs, no problem. Im on Fork quite a bit as well, if you see me come say hi, Ill be the guy that looks like he stole your boat.....
