Starter assist circuit on 60テつー V6 ficht

    Hi all,

I heard that the 60テつー V6 ficht engines own a starter assist circuit.

What is the purpose of this SAC?

I cannot locate it neither in the service manual nor in the BRP part finder web site: is it embedded in the ECU/EMM?

Is it present on all the 60テつー V6 ficht (whatever the engine year)?

    Fred.

The start assist is regulsted by the EMM. There is a procedure in the manual for checking the voltage to confirm it is working properly. I do not have my manual with me or I could tell you which section it is in. Hope this helps.

Only 2000 or newer 60 degree DI's that are equipped with an EMM have a SAC circuit.

    60 degree DI engine's that have an air-cooled ECU (97 & 98) or water-cooled ECU (99 & some early 2000) were not equipped with a SAC circuit.

The flywheel and stator produce the voltage necessary to operate the 40 volt components and charge the battery. Since the flywheel isn't spinning fast @ cranking speeds (approx 200 rpm), the voltage produced is low.

The start assist circuit (SAC) is located inside the EMM. The SAC circuit only works while cranking (i.e. when the starter is operating). Battery voltage is supplied to the SAC circuit via the pink/white wire from the starter solenoid. The SAC takes this signal, steps it up and supplies that voltage to the 40 volt circuit. This boosts the voltage on the 40 volt circuit to help operate the injectors and ignition components to help start the engine.

Re: Starter assist circuit on 60テつー V6 ficht (Sportwin)

    Thank you for your replies.

I have a year early 2000 175 ficht with water cooled ECU so I own the service manual for year 2000 and also the supplement for the "V" suffix models (with ECU instead of EMM). I found some discrepancies between the two books regarding the EMM/ECU wiring and thats why I ask for the SAC availabitilty on my engine (the pink/white wire does not exist on my ECU).

I think the SAC is not existing on ECU managed engine because the components voltage is 27 volts instead of 40 volts on the EMM managed ones.
