    TRIM TAB CONTROL BOX

Does anyone know where Gambler mounts the trim tab control box? I have a trim tab that is alot slower than the other one. Lenco sent me a new actuator, but they also offered me the control switch that controls the tabs individually. Lenco said the switch control would plug into the control box. I would like to know my options before I switch the actuator out.

Re: TRIM TAB CONTROL BOX (JAZII)

Joe, I may be mistaken, but I don't think Gambler uses the Lenco control box. I went all through this a couple of years ago (with Lenco and Nils) when I wanted to add the Lenco trim tab gauge to my Gambler. I also found out how much that control box costs. Gambler wires the trim tabs together, because on a high performance boat a single tab coming down might not be pretty at 80+ mph.

Re: TRIM TAB CONTROL BOX (FishNH)

When I talked to Bob, he told me that they still use the control box. The switch control with led guage needs a totally different control box. The switch control with just the two individual buttons will hook right up to the plug at the control box, but the out put for the actuators will have to be re-wired for port and starboard.

Ya a single tab coming down at 80 is not good. I have a 2" difference in trim tabs at the half way down point.

Re: TRIM TAB CONTROL BOX (JAZII)

I just replaced an actuator last night on my 2100. Both trim tabs are wired together and are activated by one switch. I could not find a "control" box just wiring that ends up under the shifter which is connected to the control switch. I too would be skeptical about individual operation of the tabs at high speed yet do any of us use the tabs at WOT??. I don't. It would be nice to ballance loads at slower speeds if you have a heavy non-boaters with fish and you don't. If you need help in installing the new acuator, let me know as I have been there and done it .

Just one other thought. If your actuator is working but is just out of alighment you can fix it. Disconnect the actuator from the tab. Manually screw the acuator up or down to match your other and reconnect to the tab. I put a screw driver through the bottom hole to make the adjustment.

Re: TRIM TAB CONTROL BOX (BWgambler)

My tabs are fine at full up and full down. The driver side one is alot slower, hince when slowing down and coming into shallow water the boat lists to my side really bad. Like I said I am only going by what Bob and Lenco told me. Bob said they use the box, and Lenco said the switch would plug into the box, but I would have to seperate the output wires. Gambler wires them together. I have the switch and an actuator. I will probably just cut and splice the wire for the slow actuator, but if the tabs still did not act together the switch would be the other option.
