    Speed

I've been reading other boat forums and they brag on boats that run around 73, I just got my 99 Intimidator, and I was wondering how do other boat owners react when they see a Gambler. They talk about out running other boats. Has anyone been outrun in a Gambler. I'm sure they have, I was just wondering.

if you get outrun in a gambler , its probably either going to be by an allison, bullet or stroker. its not likely to happen by a cookie cutter boat.

Well, I was reading where people were talking about outrunning a Ranger. I think the Ranger picked the race though. I just know that when you see a Gambler or an Allison. you know what's fixing to happen. I was hoping someone would tell a story about a good boat race.

    Re: Speed (Red Level Gambler)

i can tell you that a couple of weeks ago i went down to the river and while i was unloading my boat, some dude pulled up with a ratty a$$ old venture bass boat. it was baby blue and probably about an 84 model with a 200 xri. most of the carpet was rotted out and the boat was full of leaves. he had an old flasher mounted on top of the console but the mount was broke so it was just flopping around. the baby blue gelcoat was so chalky that it rubbed off on my clothes when i leaned up against his boat. one of the compartment lids was gone off the back deck, seats were rotted. i am telling you this was a ratted out pile of chit! during conversation with this guy he told me the boat would run 78 mph ( you know how that goes). i just blew his comments off. he left out about 30 seconds before me and i liked to never caught him. i was running a small prop that would smash my limiter at 78 mph. when i did get up beside him and stayed at his pace, my gps read like 76.6 mph. all i know is........i bet that dude has pissed off a lot of triton owners in his ratty a$$ old boat. how could you admit you got outrun by such a junker?

That's funny. I can see where you'd think that a ratty boat won't run. Some people don't take care of they're boat, I've seen them sit in the weather the whole time they own it. I just can't do mine that way. Well I can't do any of my stuff that way, my drag car and other toys.

Went out last week. air temp 70 water temp about 48-50 degrees. Boat hasnt been run in about 3 months. 1 person 1/2 tank of gas full fishing equipment load. Played around with my buddies javalin 400 TE & 225 vendicator. He GPS 68 mph I GPS 81.6 mph ...not bad for the 10yr old 209 and Merc 225 3L. 30p spinelli DR @ 6k rpm. Standered Fixed JP might could squeeze a few mph more with a hydrolic unit?

Man, that's flying, I don't think my boat will ever run that fast, I probably couldn't drive it anyway.

    Re: Speed (Hydrilla)

    Hey Rich!!

It was an accident.....promise. We were running the rim ditch on the big O a while back and as I was passing Jason, a large stick up was right in front, so had to swerve back a bit in front of Jason....

    Re: Speed (Largemouthlou)

I know how to make cars go fast and racing them is no problem, but this is the first fast boat I've ever had and I ain't quite got the hang of it yet. But I do love speed and that's why I bought a Gambler.

We all know that Allisons are faster and maybe (some may argue) the smaller boat gets better fuel milage, but who cares. When people come up to me and say, " That's a good looking boat," I leave the lake happy knowing that that guy who gave me that comment was driving a newer model bassboat.JMO

    Re: Speed (Short Gambler)

I got passed one morning in the canal between Barkley and KY Lakes by a Mod Vee equipped black Bullet, and he had to be running 90 or better. That afternoon with the wind up, cruisers everywhere and huge chop on the water, I passed the Bullet on the way to the weigh in, He was pounding in the chop. I ran the 25 or so miles back to the weighin ramp and culled a couple of fish before time to check in... before the Bullet got there. Those guys looked whipped and their fish were dead. Which boat was the better tournament boat that day?

Then once on Watts Bar going back to the weighin a Stratos 201 with 225 passed me going back in. I was running easy for I had a good string of fish and was taking care of them. Back at the ramp he was bragging hard about how he "ran circles" around that Gambler. Next morning going down lake I passed him on his left, crossed in front of him, backed off and let him pass me to my left, and then went over his wake and passed him again on his left.....proving that I ran a "circle" around him. I did not mention it at the ramp, and neither did he, as a matter of fact, he was very quiet on day two. He just looked my way and grinned slightly. My Gambler back then was an Intimidator with a 200 EFI.
