Just wondering. Is a jack plate worth the money. When running WOT I notice a lot of water slapping the transom. I saw that I can get a 6" jack plate for $200. I have a 2007 175 eagle w/ 90hp yamaha. She runs 41mph per gps. I have a 13 1/4 x 17 alum. prop.
Will I gain any I performance. Will it be better handling. What can I expect? I know they don't recommend a jack plate on this boat, but I see so many with them. Any and all advice is welcomed.
I can't answer your question, but as a point of interest, my 2002 G3 Pro175 with a 60hp and steel prop runs 34.6 GPS loaded and 30 more HP gains 7mph for you. That is crazy. And big motors are not cheap.

Can't help ya there, I don't know of anyone who has a JP on an Eagle. Are you mostly interested in gaining speed or running shallow? How's you motor height now? If it's anything like mine (at 9.5" below pad originally) you can move it up at least a bolt hole and pick up some cheap mph.
The 17 alum prop sounds a little off to me--is that factory recommended? How are the RPM's at WOT?

Is yours a 2-stroke or 4? I've gotta think g3man has room for improvement and could get it up over 45 mph with a few tweaks. SS prop might be a good start.

As far as engine height goes I'm not sure. It is a 2-stroke. It came with a stock alum. 17 prop. I bent that one and bought a hustler at the same size. I have seen some G3 eagles w/90 hp motors come with 19 props also. My tack is doing the jumpy crazy thing, so I need to fix that to give you the correct answer for that. I just thought with the water slapping the transom pushing the motor out farthe would help. Tell me ya'lls thoughts and i will try to get some of the info together to help with the answers.
