    boat storage in unheated garage

Just a thought, I checked on my boat at the storage facility by the lake, unpluged battery charger. Was wondering if the heat given off by the 3-bank charger would create enough heat to keep pumps from freezing in the bilge? Was wondering if I put a small lamp in that area and closed the lid if that heat would keep any water in the lines from freezing. Does anyong already do this?

I think I would stay away from using a heat sorce. I just run the pumps for a sec or two to purge any water from the pump it self

You want to put an elecrtic device that can give off sparks in an enclosed compartment that contains how many gals of gas, besides fumes.

During the Winter months, we will see a few days with a high in upper 20's. Most the time our high will be in the mid to upper 30's. What made me think about it was my 3-back charger does give off a little heat.

I think with it being in storage un attended pull the batteries or stop by once in a while and charge them while you are there.

Run the bilge and well pumps for a second to purge the water

    Disconnect the main battery

    Store the motor down

I store my boat outside under a cover, I charge the batteries and run the pumps every few weeks, I have never had any problems. I don't think I would have the guts to leave something electric unattended in my boat, to many things could happen.
