202 viper crral /225 efi quesitons?

have a 2000 viper coral 202 with a 2000 nercury 225 efi I HAVE A LOW WATER PICKUP SYSTEM ? 4 HOLES IN THE BOTTOM BULLET? IS THIS A NORAL ITEM ON 225 EFI UNITS? SECOND the best prop i have run is a tropohy 4 blade 25 pitch. problem is the last 1/4 throtlle has nothing left for speed. i have just tried a 26 and 25 tempest plus. both seem to blow out a rooster tail and dont lift the bow as desired. would a 26 trophy work better. seems the tempest just dosent seem to like the boat.

8 in set back jack plate motor had approx 120 hrs total time

I don't have one, but the 225 EFIs do have the water pickups in the bullet, at least after a certain model year. A friend has exact same model & year rig as yours and I know his boat pretty well.

Your rig should be able to use a 26" Trophy.

Your rig should do very well with a 25" Tempest-it should have a hole shot roughly equal to the Trophy, strong mid-range, and best top end speed. (over a Trophy)

What is your prop shaft to pad distance? If you have your jackplate too high, you will lose trim & bow lift on these boats. How much weight are you carrying around?

i have a 8 inch jack plate or set back. the shaft is 3 1/2 below bottom of hull. both the tempset i have tried have been quite a disappointment. i just think there is more here. hence maybe a 26 trophy

I am running the same setup but on a 201. I have a 26 Trophy and it hits 65-67 with 2 guys and equipment my best was 70.4 all with GPS and I was by myself and little gas ,I have tried a Tempest and the best was 68. I am 3-1/2 down but I do have a 12 jack plate I have no blow out at all. I will be buying a fury soon will give numbers than ,my unit has holes on the bottom also . pain in the butt when fishing scum frogs in muck always clogs those holes up ....just got to remember to lift the motor .has any one worked on these props in the past

I have the same boat / motor 2000 Coral 202 and 2000 225 EFI. The boat came with no jack plate and a 25P Predator 4 blade prop. It would only get about 63 mph with a normal load. I added a 6" jack plate and a 25P Powertech TRO4 (4) blade. It helped and I saw 65 maybe 66 on a perfect cool day. It seemed that the last 400 rpm or so didn't yield any speed gain. I then went to a 25P Tempest 3 blade and it is like a different boat. I mostly use my boat for fishing and I make some long runs, up to 30 miles one way. I value a good top end, but even more a great cruise speed with good fuel economy. I know with the gas hog 225 efi, fuel economy is relative, but I wanted the best I could get. The 25P Tempest is by far the best prop for my boat. I get a consistent 47 - 48 mph on gps cruise at just 4000 rpm. With the 4 blade 4000 rpm would get me only 43 mph. I have seen 68 mph with a normal fishing load and that wasn't rung all the way out. My prop is 3 1/4" below the pad. I expect she would just tick 70 if I left the hammer down long enough. One thing that I've noticed about the Coral hull is that it is easy to overtrim. Since fish and ski boats have more weight up front they just won't run with the bow way up in the air without a big speed penalty. My boat is much more efficient running more flat. I can trim it way up, but I lose speed. Sometimes I get the idea that I would like to have a regular dual console bass boat, but then I take my family or some friends out and I appreciate the Coral design. I don't know of another fish and ski that has the performance, a 45 gallon livewell, decent front deck space, (2) rod lockers that I can put 7' sticks in, and also have the ski locker in the floor available. I really think the Coral is the best fish and ski ever made and it's not just cause I have one!

I bought a 25p Fury and ran it on my 201. It turned 200 more rpms than my 25p tempest and gained 2-3 mph. I ran 68 mph with it (gps). I put a 25 trophy on it and now I run 69-70 mph with it, so I sold the Fury. I have talked to 3 others with 201's that had the same results as me. Fury is faster than a tempest but slower than the trophy.
