Has anyone done this with a 201

I am thinking of moving my 3 batteries and my charger to the storage compartment in the frontof the boat. just keeping a single battery for cranking in the back this would help my holeshot and open up the back .right now I have 4 29 seriesbatteries,a battery charger, and oil tank. I went to change the livewell control ,by the way thats a story all in its self !! and I had to take everything out what a mess back there ,I have the extended deck so I have enough storage I was just wondering about the ride will I loose top endI am running at72gps and my holeshot struggles I have a 26 Trophy ,went to a 25 Trophy super holeshot but lost 7mph and was over tacking. Moving the batteries up front has to help my holeshot .....any help thanks

I don't know of anyone who has done that. But I am wondering if you have had any work done to your prop. I am running a 225 EFI with a 25 Trophy and with everything just right and a light load my 201 will hit 73.8 gps and I can run 72 anytime.

I am guessing from your name that you are runnig a 250XB. If this is the case you should be able to improve on my numbers. You may want to consider sending your prop to Mark Croxton. At one time my boat really struggled out of the hole but ran well top end, but I sent my prop to Mark and it now launches out of the hole and also maintained the top end.

    Good Luck,

    Pat

No,I haven't tried that. That sounds like a disaster. It may help it plane out faster, but I don't see it really bothering your top end.I have a '04 225 efi and I get 71 on gps with a 26 trophy plus.Hole shot is great, but I'm curious to see how the summer months effect it.Good luck.

Moving weight forward would have been the last thing I considered doing with my 201 due to lack of bow lift with these hulls.
I had a 225 efi on mine and ran a 26 tempest, the hole shot was very good although it did cavitate some as it broke over, ran 72+ light and 67 or so with two guys and a tournament load. I chose the 3 blade because it seemed to provide more bow lift than a 4 blade.

Seams to me that all the bouncing of the batteries will kill tem too fast and you would have a hell-of a time keeping them anchored, but who knows I could be wrong.
