2000 201s

Just purchased my first snake. I've been told thay were out of buissnes for years but i've seen many 06' on this site, when did thay go? My snake has a 2000 225 EFI and it is 3" below the bottom of the boat, tested it today tried 3 props 26" Trophy plus, 27" Tempest plus and silly but a 28" trophy plus. It seem better handling with the trophy and got 72.6(gps) in about 1/3 mile, tested in a curvy river. The tempest seems lower lage time and about the same speed. Would app. any help from fellow Snake Charmers. I hate trying to set up a boat/Prop, I think it's a riddle with no answer you just see who can get the closest. Thanks for any help. By the way I came from a triton and the Snake is the best handling and smooth riding boat I have ever seen, sorry for the paragraph but I am pretty excited, Thanks again .........BIG E

Edwin...was that GPS or speedo mph? What are your rpm's at WOT? What is your psi at WOT? How big is the jackplate? Be sure to try a 25" Tempest or 25" Trophy (assuming your 225 EFI is a Merc). Put your prop shaft at 3.5" below the pad, put on one of the above props and let's go from there. How's your current holeshot? Lets post a pic of that Snake so we all can see it.

yes that is gps it's accually 2 3/4 below it is a merc. and that was a WOT although it will not trim all the way up or it will rev out, you think it is still to high. WP at wot was 14lbs.

No, if your hole shot is exceptable leave it there. What are your rpm's at WOT? Are you almost at the rev limiter? 14# of water pressure is just about at the low end. Don't let it get any lower. Also, when trimming out your engine make sure your roostertail doesn't go any higher than the top of your cowling. Your numbers are pretty good. Might be able to get a couple more mph with a worked prop. Be sure to try a 25" Tempest or Trophy. I have a feeling that you can get a few more rpm's out of your EFI and if you can that should equate to a couple more mph.

Well that is the problem. At WOT if I trim to much it will hit the limiter. The moter will turn to the limit with the 26" four and the 27" 3 blade I feel if I go to a 25 it will have to go lower...you think?

Looks like you have have a real strong running 225 EFI there. Looks like about all you can do is get your prop worked to gain the effect you want. Contact Mark (the prop guru of the BBC) over on the Prop Forum and see what he would have you do. Just tell him exactly what it is that your trying to accomplish and he will make it happen...his prices are fantastic too!

How's the bow lift at 2.75 above pad, i have a 97 with a 99 225 efi, I'm running 3.5 below with a 26 tempest, runs 72 gps light at 5800 rpm and good bow lift. How fast with the 27 tempest, I've got one available to try I just didn't think I could turn it.

Why would you want to trim all the way up? Your roostertail shouldn't be higher than your cowl. You want the thrust to push the boat forward not up and forward which is what will happen if you allow the roostertail to get higher than the cowl. What size jackplate are you running? What were your RPM's with the Trophy when you hit 72.6 mph?

    Re: 2000 201s (Backlash Ar)

Good morning, Fished tx yesterday with 2 people full tank and full gear 68.3gps 5700rpm. I feel thats not bad with the lbs. and I'm getting tired of fooling with that prop. I think the T.Stats are out of the motor, It takes longer to warm up(idle down) than I think it should and it pees as soon as I start it . Why would someone do that and could that be why the press. is usually WOT 12-14. I'm gonna get the pump checked this week, got a club tx next sat and i'm a little consearned. Thanks for all the info it has helped a lot.
