    Re: rod orginizer (pacautomation)

Nolan...Welcome to the Cobra board of the BBC, glad to have you join us. The original rod holder that came in the 2003 models is no longer being used by Cobra. The company developed a very poor reputation somewhere along the line and didn't deliver the goods on time if he delivered them at all. The company used to be a BBC sponsor but he "stiffed" several people and was given "the boot." All he ever did was make worthless promises. The compnay went to a new, and in my opinion a far better rod storage holder. It's called a Moosehead and will fit right in your current rod locker. Call this number to get info on the product from Lauri of Cobra Boats USA. 870-425-9037. AND, don't be a stranger. Lots of fine folks here in the Cobra Forum and on the BBC.

    Larry,

That didn't happen to be Osprey did it? That is exactly what happened to me, I waited for a month without any response, then got a lame excuse followed by another 2 week wait. I finally had to dispute the charge with my C.C. company. After the dispute was filed, the organizer finally showed up and i had to reject it. What a waste!!!

Les, you hit the nail on the head. Too bad, because Osprey had some nice products. Don't really know the entire story but he got booted off the BBC as a participating sponsor.

    Re: rod organizer (pacautomation)

Hey Guys, the boat he's been fishing out of is an '02 model in case that changes who the vendor was. I suggested that he call Cobra and talk to Lauri. Hopefully he'll let us know what he ends up with.

    Thanks!

    Re: rod organizer (westtx)

Will...nice to hear from you again. I must admit, you had the patience of Job waiting and waiting and waiting on that different hull but it finally paid off! As for being a 2002 Viper instead of a 2003, no biggie! That's the same year of Cobra I ran and my rod rack was from Osprey. The newer one from "Moosehead" has a slightly different configuration with a little deeper slots to cradle your rod handles, plus it has tie down straps to make sure they don't accidently become dislodged during a rough water ride. Take Care!

    Re: rod orginizer (pacautomation)

I talked to Lauri today and she said that she did not think the moosehead would fit in the 97 (or could be retrofitted) that it had to be done when the boat was being made in the none coosa hull. but she did say that within the next few months she should have access to the older style. Thanks for all the help. Nolan

    Nolan,

First of all listen to Larry before you do me. Contact Lauri first, but I just went through the same thing and it seems like if your boat does not have the front part of the rod rack in it there may be a problem with the adding the Moose Head rack. I assure you that if Lauri says that it is okay it will be. But if not, I ended up here: http://www.rodstowr.com This rack is working great for me and was easy to install. Good luck

    Re: rod orginizer (Cobraman)

Nolan...maybe somebody out there would be willing to measure the width and depth of their '96 Viper Cobra rod storage box for you, then we'll get you a measurement for you of a boat with the Moosehead in it, then we'll compare to see if it will fit. However, having said that, it looks like Pat (Cobraman) may have found another excellent replacement...and the price is about half of what a Moosehead is. Regards...
