Thoughts on Backlash Jumping Ship!

Folks-

I am assuming that most of you know that one of your beloved moderators (Larry) has switched over to the "dark side" as you guys probably view it and has bought a Ranger. Please don't hold it against him, as we slipped some special "Ranger powder" in his tea when he was at the Bull Shoals Rally. He was really powerless to stop the inevitable at that point.

Seriously though, as I have to remind folks every once in awhile on the Ranger forum... There is no such thing as "the best boat". There is only what each of us perceives to be "the best boat for us". I was very, very close in 2002 to buying a Cobra. Had a heck of an offer with a dealer and everything and I really loved the 201 front deck! As you know, I made another decision, primarily due to my concerns over the company solvency at the time, but that does not mean that I don't like Cobra boats. I still think they are great boats! In this case, Larry decided what he "wanted" or "needed" was a Ranger. Please don't look at it like he's a traitor or anything like that. Heck... who knows.. he may decide next year that he wants his Cobra back.

Anybody that knows him knows he is a stand-up guy and I know he was proud to be a Cobra owner. That hasn't changed I am sure, anymore than the fact that I am proud to have owned a BassTracker a few years back. That was a great boat and certainly fit my needs at the time. Maybe in the future I will own another one.

Anyway, you guys got a great forum over here with Larry and Kathy and I thought I would drop in and say "hi" and also try to put a positive note on what might be viewed otherwise.

Go away! Just kidding, nice post, I agree with everything you said. We have since banned Larry from this board and if we see him at the midwest rally we are going to tie him up and throw midgets at him. ok, so larry isn't banned but we may still throw midgets at him, just hope he keeps popping in here and keeps us all in line.

Thanks a lot Rob for the kind words. We all know that Larry is a stand up guy and I don't care what boat he owns. Just as long as is still around here for me to pick on then I'm happy.

These are nice words for a very deserving guy. Regardless of what boat he owns the guy is standup. In the last week he has spent several hours researching things in order to help me get my boat set up. He has even made a couple of trips to the Cobra plant in order to find some things out for me. All for nothing, for a guy he has never even met. I have not known many like him and it is an honor to have him on this board.

I look at it this way, Ranger just got another quality guy driving their boat, that has to be good for them. We also have a quality guy out there that will have lots of good things to say about a boat he isn't driving, that has to be good for us.

Larry's happy so we should be happy with him. But we will tease him from time to time, as the opportunity presents itself!

While going over the title to this thread, I have decided after seeing Larry in person, MY thoughts on Larry jumping ship is he must have pulled the Cobra up rub rail to rub rail on the Ranger or he wasn't going to make it!!!!

I've got to remember to take that Bullseye off my back! What ya talkin' about, long jumping is my speciality...cleared 3" yesterday. Did ya feel the earth tremor all the way down there in Abilene?

They felt it up near St. Louis, Mo. it registered about 2.9 on the rictor scale (sp).
