Removing the Oil Sending Unit. Need Help!!

Hey folks. I have a '92 Johnson 175hp fast strike on my Javelin. Last year the oil sending unit went bad and the motor locked up. After paying $3000.00 to have the motor completely rebuilt i decided to start mixing the oil directly into the gasoline. The mechanic that rebuilt the motor (who has moved out of state) told me to leave the oil sending unit hooked up and burn double oil during the "break-in" period of my newly rebuilt motor. He told me that after the motor was broke in that I could disconnect the oil sending unit and just have the oil in the gas. The only problem is that he didn't tell me how to remove it. He said that i could bring it back to him and that he would remove it for free, but he moved. Here is a picture of what it looks like. There was one hose with a primer pump running out of it and two wires running into it from the motor itself. The pump itself fits down into the oil resevoir. I guess my question is...what should I disconnect? Can anybody help?

Uhhh, you should disconnect the hose at the motor (follow the line to the VRO) and disconnect it there, install the yellow plug in the oil line and tie wrap, disconnect the low oil alarm wires at the motor and the No oil wires also at the motor end. Remove the oil tank if you wish. You can chuck the tank and sender plus all the oil lines going to the motor.

Well, i'm not quite sure what yellow plug that you mean nor do i understand where to plug it. So if I disconnect the oil line at the motor, I should plug the part that comes out of the motor? Also, I tried to trace the wires into the motor without success. they run into a whole bunch of other wires and where they are all located i am unable to follow it anywhere.

Well, I pluged the oil line where it goes into the motor today. I took it out and ran it for a while and everything seems to be ok. The only thing though, is I cant find where the low oil alarm wires connect in the engine, so I just unplugged the alarm itself. Can I just cut the wires somewhere?

No they are a brown and black pair that come from the tank to the motor an plug in to a connector on the motor, should be in the belly pan on the port side, follow them up from the tank.

all right, i wont be able to get to it for a couple of days. Lot's of rain falling. I did find the black and brown wire where they come into the motor the other day. However from there, I followed them into a whole lot of more wires that are all taped up together. Where they are, I don't think I would ever be able to get them taped back up so they are not loose. I'll snap a pic for you in a couple days.
