    Number Placement Help

Where would you place the registration numbers? I am thinking about putting them on the silver - below the red. I kind of funny about some things and I just don't feel good about letting them run over the blue stripe, but I am a little nervous about putting them in the silver and being too low. In the photo gallery, I see them both ways. The longer boats seem to have enough room before the stripe in the upper section. Have any of you who have put them in the lower section been given a hard time by game wardens?

    Re: Number Placement Help (barbarian)

Better check with the state law first. Back about 20 years ago we had a lake patrolman that went by the book. Had to put mine above the rub rail on my old stratos. He wrote tickets to many of the Champion boys around here at that time.

My registration numbers are located in the area you are talking about and I have never been stopped. I agree with you they will not look good if they run over the blue stripe.

Well I definitely can't put them above the rub rail. Numbers have to be 3" and that boat area above the rub rail is only about 2".

Silver metallic would look good. The root of the problem is the state decal is 3 1/2" and I am supposed to give a 3" space before starting my numbers. So, then I can't start my numbers for 6 1/2" after that area becomes 3 1/2" wide which is about where you have the letter 'O'. I am thinking I might trim 3/8" off state decal and then cheat that 3" space to 1 1/2" and then order my numbers out of symmetry to custom fit whatever width is available..

    Re: (TOUCH OF CLASS)

If you look on page 4 of lets see your charger, I have my numbers right in front of the point, under the rub rail. I had Iguana graphics do my numbers and used a contrasting color. Darryl has done many numbers for boats in TX and can suggest a nice color contrast, or you can choose the color yourself from his web site. He sent back a sample by E-mail and the final product looked great. I have been to out of state lakes, and you know they(po-pos') love out of staters. They and where I usually launch out of (state park) have never said a thing about the number placement. By the look of the picture from the TX state web site, the preferred location is right under the rub rail. TOC is on to something..a silver would look good there, as long as it contrasts well against the background color is what the officers are mainly looking for. And NO SCRIPT LETTERING!!! they really frown on that!!!!

I ordered a silver metallic today. I measured the length and just ordered the numbers to my max length. It is slightly disproportionate, but I couldn't tell the difference. I think the computer wanted it to be like 18-20" long at 3" tall, but I ordered them 14". We'll see how they look. I'll post pic next week.
