i run a charger but it is not a real big boat. She is a 17 footer with a 125 mer so i dont get all the smoothness alot of guys get, but before i bought the charger i had a 18 foot stratos and my charger is 10 times the ride it was. All of the bigger boats will ride like a dream i can assure you! Might lack a tad on speed, but even with my 125 i can get 57 mph with my partner pretty much loaded and that is GPS speed!! I was impressed with that.

the bigger you go the better the ride,I have had 3 Chargers 170,195,and 595.The 595 is a great ride,it handles lake of the ozarks with no problem. It is tough fishing around some of the docks being almost 24 feet long with motor and 10"plate,but the ride way out does the few docks I cant fish. The 496 at 20`6" will do fine and the 396 at 19'9" or also nice. The 496 and 296 at 19'3" will be the easier of the three to find.If you want the best ride and storage than the 596 is the way to go.

I have a 496 and love it. Rough water is no problem with these boats. I did have 186 and that handled good in rough water also. I pushed the 186 in 30 mph winds and waves that had the pucker factor in full affect and had water coming over the bow and swamping the motor. We made it to calmer water but that was the roughest stuff I have ever been in. My brother and I gave high 5's to each other when we made it. The bilge pump ran for about hour after that. Taking in to consideration of our stupidity I think you'll like them.

nose down it will flat scoot, around 70 not on the pad,my 595 with a 225 will run 60 trimed all the way down and 68 ish trimed up on the pad. That 300 really wakes that boat up.

Chargers made in Richland Missouri and pretty much has a HUGE LOZ following. LOZ is Charger country for sure. An excellent rough water rig.

Re: curious about charger boats. (Mo.Stuts)

I have had 8 different styles & brands of bass boats through the years from Fiberglass to Aluminum & now have a Charger 396 & I must say this is the Cadallac limo Hummer ride for sure in the rough.

I am at 4000' elevation & am happy with the performance also. I love my boat.
here is a picture. Livewells full of fish & lake is glass!!!

Boy that 396 is sweet looking in the water, that thing has got some big decks for being 20'.It looks like its going 100 just setting there
You need to bring it back down to earth so we can see what she will do,that 4000 ft dont help.

Re: curious about charger boats. (TOUCH OF CLASS)

Thanks TOC! Yea I want to try it at lower elevation,
Im sure it would go from low 70's here @ 5600
rpm to closer to 80 at sea level maybe at 6100rpm,
but I am happy with how smooth it rides when the
wind picks up. I almost dare it to get rough with
this thing, I cant believe how nice it rides!

It would be nice to be able to will stay with the 25
Fury for both elevations (here at 3800' elevation
& 5600 rpm @ 70.6 gps) to maybe who knows
what speed & rpm's @ lower elevation since the
soft limiter is around 6150 rpm & hard limiter
    6300ish?
    Hmmmmmm, 600+ more rpm,,,
    Can't wait to find out.
