    Am I too big??

I am currently looking to buy my first bass boat and I don't want to look any further than a champion! Grew up fishing in them and love the boat. I want something in the 19 foot range. 2007 or better. I sat behind a 188 elite today and didn't even come close to fitting my legs under the console! Im 6'4 265lb. My question is???... Is there a champion out there that can house me comfortably behind the wheel?

Fishability is most important. I would like to get champ in the 19 ft range with the biggest casting deck (width).

I sat behind a zx 200 skeeter later in the afternoon, but I really would like to have a champion as my first big time boat!

    Thanks for your help

A Champ 198 Elite might be just right for you.

Is there more room under the console?

    Re: (Jgarrison52)

There should be some 198 owners to come along pretty soon that can answer that question.

I know for a fact the 200 Elite will have a lot more leg room than the 188 does.

I am 6'3" - 240 and I have more room than I know what to do with in my 2008 - 210. Not sure how that compares with the other models.

I would think the 210 Elite and the 198 Elite are similar. From my understanding the 198 Elite and 200 Elite are the same boat

I am 6'4" at 240, and have no problems fitting in my 196. I have a buddy with a 202 that I have to squeeze into. The fact that the consoles don't attach to the floor gives you more room & allows for easy access on the 196 & 198.

The newer 202 (2009 and newer) is pretty much the same as the 200 and 198. A newer 188 (and the same boat renamed 190) has more room at the driver's console than does the original 188.

I am 6'3" and 245lbs. The 198 is ok, but i really preferred the extra legroom of the 206 or the 210. I would lean toward the 210 if you can find one. Just my experience after 7 years in the 198. Great boat, but my knees hit the consoles. You could probably find a 206 in the same price range as a 198. I know you said you wanted a 19' boat, but go ahead and get a 20 ftr if you want the console room, just my thoughts.

I'm 6'5", 245 lbs and have plenty of leg room in my 206. And the front deck and storage is massive.

The 210 has a ton of leg room. Fits me perfectly and is too much for several of my friends under 6ft. The 198 is also an awesome boat, especially if you want to stay around 19ft.

Also, a 210 has a wider beam which will help when you are walking around, since you are a big guy. I was fishing last weekend and my partner commented how stable it was when walking around. BUT, he owns a skeeter. I am sure all Champ models are more stable than all others.

The 198 and several others are also the wider beam (same beam as 210). They are very stable. The older Champs..90" and 86" beams, are not as stable at rest, but all have an amazing ride...

The "beam forward" models are the most stable. 188, 190 (renamed 188, not the older ones), 196, 198, 200, 202 (newer, not the older ones), 206, 210.

Re: Am I too big?? (Lea)

My thinking was that the 200/202 & 210 would be close to the same, while the 198 & 206 were from a top cap perspective. I can testify that the 210 has ample room. While I'm less than 6', it's more than a foot from my hot foot to the rod box. I can't touch it even with my tippy toes ...

    198, 200/202 are 19'8". 206 is 20'6". 210 is 20'10".

C'mon Lea, I know that ... I was talking about the design of the top cap and cockpit area.

Re: Am I too big?? (Tx Champ)

I have to admit you had me confused..... The way you worded it made me think that the top cap perspective was only for the 198/206, and that the first 3 were close to the same size-wise. Sorry about the confusion...
