202 w 225 pro xs set up question

My Dad has a 1996 202 and he just repowered with a 2005 225 pro xs. We've been playing with the set up and different props and I was interested in seeing if anyone else is running a simular set up and where they ended up.

He has a 10" manual jackplate, and we are 2" below pad running 18 psi water pressure at WOT @ 5700 rpm with a 25p Trophy prop, the speedo doesn't work and we left the gps at home, so we will have to try another day to see if we are improving or hurting. We did try my heavy worked 26p Bullet cut chopper just for kicks and it turned 5600 and felt like it was faster on top end (again, have to wait until we can get some actual speeds) hole shot and mid range was still respectable.

Anyway, as I mentioned I was curious on motor heights, props and what kind of top end speeds that we can expect to see.

26 Tempest should be rolling out at 5,800-5,900 rpms at 73 ish should be your results without a lot of effort. 202 is a really simple setup, get your lift right and it'll eat a lake up.

    Re: (pmgoffjr)

Thanks for the advice. I just happen to have one. Also, at 2" below pad do we need to worry about plugging any of the upper water intake holes?

Would you try to go a little higher with the engine to try and get a few more r's while watching the water pressure?? It never blew out on take-off or while running at full trim.

Thanks again, I appreciate your time!!!

Nope, you go any higher you'll lose lift.
