198 owners. How did you replace fuel lines? How to..

What do you have to do to replace the fuel lines on our 198's. 2006 model year. 225 PRO XS. I want to replace from the tank to the motor. What size lines do I need from the tank to bulb then from bulb to motor. How many feet of each line should I buy?

Any thing special I should be aware of?

    Thanks,

    Rich

I replaced the line from the bulb to the motor, replacing the bulb also. That was 7-8 feet, I'm not sure on the other section of hose from the bulb to the tank. Getting the new fuel line through the rigging hose was a PITA for sure.

Lee Sanderson is my mechanic. He replaced them for me. Contact him or Don Weed on the Merc forum for help...

I did the same think Mikemac10 did. Just access the hose to the engine from the rigging area and cut it off at the engine side of the bulb. Buy more hose than you will need...say 10 feet. Then, take a hose barb and connect the old to the new and use the old one to pull the new one into place from where the rigging tube enters the front of the engine. Then, connect the new one to the line that comes from the engine. This is a ton easier than fishing the new line through the rigging tube.
