    New 202

So, I have looking at the new 202 and noticed the weight differences. The Catalogue says approx weight is 1850 while online it says 1950 (2000 for dual console). Are these accurate? They seem awfully heavy? They are considerably more than the comparble length R boats!

Were the 198's and 196's this heavy?

I am curious to know if anybody has driven the "new 202" to compare it to a 198 speed and hole shot wise???

Many of the older brochures (of several brands) show less than perfect weights. The newer brochures are more realistic.

Hopefully, someone who has driven the 202 will be along. If I were going to buy new, that is the boat I would be buying,..

    Re: New 202 (Lea)

The new 202 is my demo boat. The speed out of it is awesome to say the least. As far as weight the elite single console is 100LBS heavier than the comparible 198 and 150LBS on the dual. My old boat was a 200 elite and would run 69 to 71 fully loaded with all tournament gear and full fuel. The new 202 will run 72 to 74 with the exact same load. The only difference is my old boat had the VMAX Series 2 and my new one has the SHO.

If you go to the Stratos boat site you can find all the detail on thier new 202 Elite. Also they have pictures of all three of the Elite models.

Prolly the SHO. Those motors are getting some great reviews.

And as far as I know, my 187 weighs 1850. It says 1450 without the motor on NADA, and the motor weighs 400lbs. So that sounds right to me on the new 202.

That's right, my boat is so badasss that it's booked without the motor.

    Re: New 202 (Royjulius)

I am running the SHO. From what I have seen the yamaha is about 2MPH faster than the merc. With the yamaha you can run at higher engine height and still maintain good bow lift. LESS DRAG=FASTER SPEEDS,and also there is absolutely no hook in the new hull. If some of you guys remember before stratos took over champion had a lot of speed complaints due to excessive hook in the hull. In my old elite I had them take it back to the factory and shave the hook, which I gained about 4MPH from that.

    Re: New 202 (bassfinder1)

The hook was a problem on the earliest 07 200s. The factory made corrections as requested, and changed the design from that point on.

With regular Opti, and 26p out of the box Tempest Plus (3rd one I tried!), I hit 71.9 in horrific heat and humidity...full load, two people. Fast enuf for me!
