First time in 30 years of bass fishing this happened

My partner snagged a water dog (salamander) the thing was pink and ugly and big 2 feet long.

I have caught dog fish (bowfins) but what we saw yestersday was ultra odd.

He said get the net: I got a good one on. Then this water dog comes up sideways.

caught a small one years ago as a kid crappie fishing in a dock with my dad. That sucker sure could move some water.

Pics no we were fishing in a bass tournament: I flipped him my pliers and he shook it off the hook. Both he and I said what the hell was with that?


This thing looked like something a musky hunter would toss up north for EL Grande.


I didnt want the thing in my boat either so I was glad to see it fall into the water.

Geez I didnt think salamanders got that big, ive seen some mud puppies over a foot long though. I think they are kind of cool, odd looking but cool.

Maybe it was a mud puppy? I dont know but it was ugly and new to me.
