Just curious what you guys think for resale value?

First off I'm not interested in selling my boat right now (unless price is right) just a bit curious. I took a look at the Rangers for sale section tonight and it seems like the older rangers have really jumped up in price lately. So I am curious what you guys would quote my rig at? I have a 97 481vs with a 98 175 mariner efi, dual power poles, 1 hds 7 Gen 1, 1 hds 7 Gen 2 both with rams and structure scan plus sonic hub, 80lb fortrex, keel guard, completely overhauled the original bench seat to new from factory condition, new power head with less than 100 hours on it. Now on to the cosmetics carpet is loose in spots, gel coat has some fading but a wet sand and buff will make it beautiful again, handful of scratches on the sides and overall I'd say boat, motor and trailer are in a 7/10 condition mainly because of cosmetics but everything works as it should.

sorry didn't consider power poles or electronics. Sometimes all your add ons don't add a whole lot to the resale value. at least not as much as you paid for them. its the boat and engine I'm concerned about.

I understand that with a boat I will never get anything close to what I have put into it but the values seem to be higher than what they used to be. Or are guys just putting them out there with stupid prices just hoping someone will pay it?

seems some people are very proud of their rig. I've seen those prices too on some sites . look up your boat and motor in Kelly blue book or nada. this will give you a better idea whats it worth

487 is spot on. The only reason I got $12K was a low hours, 4 yr old Suzuki 175 4 stroke. Very good engine by the way!

80% of NADA is a safe bet of what it would actually sell for, esp. if the buyer needs any financing. Probably more than a dealer would give you on a trade (then it would be 80% of trade in value). Unless you lucked into someone that wanted the power poles and same electronics you have. Those are always a crap shoot. Older boats tend to be owner boats, fancied up to fit the owner, and often don't match up with what a typical buyer would want or be willing to spend. I'm sort of in that situation now, already spent more than it would ever sell for, but would be cheaper to fix up than sell and take on the financing on a new boat.

Sorry, boats are not an investment.

Oh yeah, check how long those Rangers have been listed on the page, some go back a long time, either ads forgotten by owners or teasers left there by dealers.

Also - agree the DF 175 is a great engine, although see very few on bass boats
Boatless again but looking forward to Spring

I would say based on your description you should be able to get to the 10 to 12k mark for it if you find the right buyer. I sold my 95 champion 181 with a 150 xr6 in March for 9800. They buyer met me in Kansas and we water tested it and he took it back home to texas. He said he had looked at several boats that ended up being duds and when I was willing to meet him half way he felt good that I was confidant it was what I was describing and advertised in pics. He said the boat was better than advertised. I had base electronics on the boat and a 8' talon and that helped the price a little.

Thanks for the input guys I appreciate it! I bought the boat for $7,800 with the hds7s 4 years ago. I'm very surprised that I could potentially get more than what I paid for it. I'm in no market to sell it since I'm happy with it and own it but it's good to know.
