    Installing Transducer in hull

I just installed a H'bird 898 with transom mount SI transucer. I also bought the 2d transducer which is to be expoxyed inside the hull and connected via a Y cable. MY question - how much "stuff" do I have to remove to get at the hull in the bilge area on my 05 198.

I am questioning whether this is worthwhile since all I get is depth readings while on plane. I sitll have my Lowrance x125 in the dash but it has always been sporadic at picking up depth when on plane.

In my 05, the oil reservoir is centered and you have to remove it. Under it is a plate which can be removed for easy bilge access.... I do not have to move batteries. Hope you don't, either...

Thanks - that is what it looked like to me but wanted an "expert" opinion. Wish snaking the tranducer cable up front was as easy.

When I did mine, I removed the trolling motor batteries. This way when you remove the screws supporting the oil tank/bracket you can slide it off to the side without disconnecting oil lines....then remove center plate As for pulling the cable up front, mine had a white strap left in the rigging tube from the factory for pulling cables/wires if needed. Just remember to pull and extra if you use...

    hope this helps

Good idea, Todd! I was not watching when my mechanic went bilge diving to replace my livewell valve. That does sound easier than removing oil lines!
