    Wax / Polish Recommendations

I havnt waxed / polished the boat since I got it (almost 2 years now) and am wondering what process you guys would recommend. I have minimal (but some) hard water spots on the gelcoat, but am more concerned about the process involved and the types of wax and/or polish to use. As well as what you guys recommend for the application process (i.e. Does the polish go on after wax or visa versa). I also have some dock rub / scrapes and wasn't sure if using a rubbing compound was necessary for that, or if it will come out with a standard wax.

Obviously I am lacking experience when it comes to waxing and polishing a boat, so anything you guys may have would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Re: Wax / Polish Recommendations (clanderman)

There is a really good post about the care of our boats. I have it pinned at the top. It is under Champion Information and OEM....

Open that thread and scroll down and you will find the information!!! Pro-tec is the brand of cleaners/polishes, etc that Champion recommended to me years ago. That's what I use.

    Re: (brokejeep)

Googled it since I had never heard of it. Good grief...Supposedly cleans dogs, kitchens, fireplaces, livestock, cars, boats, etc, etc. However, Amazon (only place I found it so far) says unavailable and no idea when, or if, they will ever be able to get it.

I think I will stay with what I know....

Re: Wax / Polish Recommendations (clanderman)

I trust the above opinions about ProTec, just never tried it. A coat or two of Mequir's marine wax and a wipe down with BBS on a regular basis has worked well for me. Need to get something with UV protection on that boat or the sun will eat it up
