Probably a 1996 181. I ran one until about April of last year. Great boats, turn on a dime and don't do terrible in big water. Make sure the motor checks out and I wouldn't blink an eye about owning one.

What is "better" for me might not be better for you. Try to get to drive/ride/troll out of all models you are interested in. Only you can decide what s best for you.

You ask if problems wth certain years...No, there were no problem years. However, you must check any models to make sure any drilled holes for motor, jackplate, etc were properly sealed. This would be true for any brand, any model, any year....

    Do you fish big water?

    Smaller waters?

If you fish big water the 20'/225hp class boats are hard to beat, but with any used boats of that age it's all about how it has been taken care of.

Go looking, riding.. Enjoy the search and post us pics of the new ride!

Re: Looking at changing boats need help (mixermarkb)

I do have to say tho, a late 80's 184 with a yamaha is one heck of a sweet vintage champ if it's in good shape. Those years in the late 80's and early 90's were some of the best of the best as far as mountain home champs go...
