JD Power Outboard Awards for 2007

    http://powerboat.about.com/od/...s.htm

Evinrude has tied for first along with Mercury for DI 2-stroke outboards. Of course, I think the only other competitor is probably Yamaha so the result is fairly meaningless....

Anyone knows how Evinrude compares to the 4-stroke companies in terms of Awards? after all - that's who they compare themselves with in all other areas with these ETECs.

Remember a few years back when the other two companies were trying to shove 4 strokes down our throats and everyone was saying there would be no more 2 strokes, this is why the E-TEC's were marketed with comparisons to the 4 strokes.

    I'll bet the Yama-dog people don't think it's meaningless

ha ha....I just meant, if there are only 3 companies in the running.....and the results are pretty close....the order in which come doesn't mean much....

    wasn't trying to diss yamaha!

If you read the 4 stroke results, there are 5 companies and Mercury has consistantly placed last for the past consecutive years.

Personally I could care less about a JD Powers report. The reason is because of all the bogus data they get.

When I bought my house, I was offered CASH from the sales folks for a good rating because they got commissioned on it. When I bought my boat, I was offered a case of oil or something (can't remember exactly what it was) if I let them fill out the survey. When I bought my car, I was offered, an additional full tank of gas and a number of free oil changes to let them fill out the survey

I don't know about you, but based on my experience with what I was offered for a good survey, I wouldn't trust a thing from the JD Power reports. Fraud is probably rampant with it.

BTW, with the auto purchase, it seems ever dealer offers something for a good survey. I say this because I was offered something on my last 4 vehicles I purchased. And no, it wasn't the same dealer.

Same experience for me when buying a car. Those surveys are not to be trusted.
