I dont have a hot foot. I have given it (Adding-on) some thought . Any others still running the hand throttle? Seems more applicable to 200 HP and up powerplants or those that run big water.

For the small price compared to rest of your boats cost, it sure is great insurance for that day it blows a bunch on Sturgeon Bay.![]()
CLOSED GAMEFISHING SEASONS IN WI HAS NO BIOLOGICAL CREEDENCE!!!
I had one on my 181, ill never own another bass boat without one. Once you get one you'll never go back to the hand throttle...
Don't have it, never tried it. Not sure I want it.

Don't have one on my 181. Thought about adding one too, but it's way down on the list of add-ons.
I got my first one with my last champ a 203 with a 250 yamaha.....I wasn't sure I liked it....until..my wife said she would NEVER drive the boat with that "THING"
So I guess I have to keep it ...haha![]()
Even if I went back to a 17 footer, it would have the hot foot!!!!
Definitely the way to go. I ran mine for 13 years without one. Added hot foot with new motor combo.
Been a one handed driver for a long, long time. Bought a hot foot to put in while doing the restoration. Bought a slide too. One tip though if you are going to put one in don't pull the throttle cable out of the boat. Just coil it up in the engine compartment incase the hot foot cable ever breaks or the foot itself ever messes up. You'll just need to connect the old cable to the motor and you'll get home.![]()
The first 3 boats I owned did not have one, but the rig I have now has one, and after I got used to it, I absolutely love it!
See ya, HatfieldHog
no hotfoot here Butch. Too many other things that I'm trying to get upgraded on my Champ. I figured the hotfoot is near the bottom of my priority list. It would be nice to have, but really not necessary for me. If I had a 70 MPH ++ rig, then maybe it would be more or a priority needing two hands on the wheel.
However, on Lake Erie last year when it started rolling, I hit a couple of waves and my right hand gunned it on the throttle. Not good when their rollin' on Erie to be "flooring" it every other wave or so. It would have been nice to have the hotfoot in that situation.

Thanks all!
I got other priority's now as well. Buying a 898 hummingbird with side scan, which will require a extra transducer for split screen features, a Y cable to link 2 transducers up, and a map card.
Wife will only fork out some of her year end bonus.![]()

I've driven a few boats with them, and they are never far enough away to be comfortable. I'm looking at one for this boat, but I'm not sure I can place it where it will be comfortable. Too much inseam.

Never own a boat with out one. They should all be rigged with one. Let's you keep your hands on the wheel at all times. Really need trim on your steering wheel. I think it is a great safety issue also. You get thrown out not only do you have the kill switch but the hot foot returns the throttle back to idle. Especially helpful in rough water too.
