200 elite question

so I load up my boat today (2007 champion 200 elite) and drive to the lake. I launch fire up the motor all is good. I go to turn on my power switch that runs all the stuff in the boat other than the minn kota and the big motor and it wont come on. tinker around and cant figure it out. It has never given me trouble before and just all the sudden died. I still got to fish all day but had no electronics, bilge, etc. Anyone had thier soft touch panel not work? I looked in the battery compartment to see if there is a fuse box but all the wires ran into a box that said "Mega Link" and looked super confusing so I gave up... anyone have any ideas to help me trouble shoot?? Maybe I just need to order a new touch panel?

i did look under the consol and couldnt find a breaker for the life of me... I will check again, any idea where it might be located at?

cant remember on the 200 if its in the same spot as the 198s
the 198s were on the driver side under console on the side of the gunnel

On my 2007 200 Elite, the mega-link was defective. When it worked, it was great. Sometimes it would just lock up and nothing would turn on or off. The only way to reset it was to disconnect the battery cable from the starter battery. At first they thought moisture was causing the issue. I believe this was an issue only on the early 200 Elites. I think the megalink was updated to correct the issues; however, you should contact a Stratos dealer to see if there is any coverage (or goodwill) on that part as it was known to be potentially defective.

I have the same problem on my 2007 200 occasionally. Usually on mine the whole electronic board locks up and nothing will work. The only way that I have learned to fix the problem is to disconnect the battery and then reconnect. I haven't heard that there was a defective part like Duane suggested, but that makes sense. If you get Stratos to replace under warranty, please let me know.

now that i thought about it a little longer im wondering if its not your switch panel. they had a lot of problems with the panels when the 200s came out new

thanks for all the replies. I went to work on it after work today and hit the power button first thing and it came on. all electronics and pumps worked... damndest thing I ever saw. Makes me think there might be a short somewhere. Im going to keep an eye on it and see if it does it again.. I have had it freeze up before when the power button was on but never when it was turned off. Will just keep an eye on it for a bit and see how it goes
