Cranking Batt. and Oil Reservoir Question on 191

I think my cranking battery is on its last leg. It is a remanufactured interstate Econo Power, and if I run my fish finder while the aerator and pro air come on, I get a low voltage alarm on the graph. This is only 20min. into the trip!

On my 97 191 SC Elite, my oil res. sits toward the front and the cranking batt. sits toward the rear of the compartment. Looks like the oil res. will have to be removed to get the batt. out. My questions are 1) Should the oil res. sit toward the rear to make the battery easier to change? 2) What size batteries are you guys running? I fish a "trolling motor only" lake a lot, so my big motor doesn't charge my cranking/graph battery throughout the day. I think the opening of the compartment is only 12.75" wide.

    Thanks

Will you be able to fill the oil tank if it sits to the rear?

Re: Cranking Batt. and Oil Reservoir Question on 191 (No hot foot)

I won't know for sure until I try it, but I think I would be able to. I was able to add water to the battery , so I think worst case, I could fill the oil with a funnel.

I have only had this boat for a few months, so I don't know how the original layout was . Just curious on the position of others oil tank/battery.

    Thanks

There is no problem just taking the oil res. out. really simple.

My 203 was rigged that way when I got it. I like to take my battery out every fall. So every fall out the oil tank comes. The battery connections were also a PITA to get at with it stuck back under there. I moved the oil tank to the back with the lid sticking out just far enough to get at it. Now battery in and out is so much easier. Then I got a SHO no more oil tank. I have always used 27 series Delco batteries for everything. But I chose to try a an Optima 31 series this time for my starting battery.
