    2007 200 elife 225 evinrude setup question

    Hi All,
Got 70.22 mph gps before I had to slow down due to Chine walk. 5500 rpms. Boat had more in it. The walk was real wicked and I have not had any previous experience with it. Running a Raker 26 three blade. I have to double check but It appears I am 4.25 below pad. Still not sure if I have a hook on the hull. The pad and first strakes next to the pad appear to be flat. The next two strakes toward the outside of the boat are quite obviously hooked (if what I am looking is a hook?). How can I be sure the hull is.hooked or not? Should I learn to tame the walk or start adjusting? Thanks for.any opinions or advice!

Try raising the engine a little. It helped the walk go away on my 198.

Stewart is right, raise to 3 1/2" and see if it improves (it will)...however without some instruction, you'll never find the potential.

Recruit someone to spend a half hour showing you how to drive correctly. Save you months of frustration.

If the pad is flat, no hook. The strakes are not involved. Plus, if you got that speed with more left, again, it's more than likely, no hook.

Take Iron Banks' & Pat's suggestions. Raise the motor and find someone with experience to teach you the way to prevent the walking. Watch your water pressure as you raise the motor.

Easy way to tell if you have a hook in your hull is to put a straight edge along the pad you will notice a definate bow if there is hook there.

From front to back... in the past, some folks thought that meant from side to side...
