    E-tec jet conversion

If any of you Evinrude types are interested, I've posted over in the Tin Boats forum pics of the work we did on my jet boat converting a 90 e-tec to a jet. I'm on my way to the river now to do a water test and make sure we have it set up correctly. I will post an update to this later.

Re: E-tec jet conversion (RBA Steve)

Steve, it looks kind of strange to see the E-Tec with a jet pump, If anyone wants to know how to do this conversion I will send them to you.....

Good job Steve, do you need some blue paint?

It performs better then I expected. I know guys running the same boat with the Merc, and they get around 35 mph with them. With two guys, full tank of gas, and full live well (to simulate fishing gear) we hit 46.5!!! That's the fastest outboard jet I've ever been in. And quiet too, jets are notorious for being loud because the exhaust comes out of the water when they get on plane. I don't know how they did it, but they cut the noise in half!

    Re: E-tec jet conversion (Bassmeister)

It was kinda scary at first......... But I toughed it out. It'll take some getting used to, slides waaaayyyy easy now. When my mechanic was running it by himself and playing, he spun it 180 deg. and took water over the bow.
A B Seas Marine, Frederick MD Goood people. I highly recomend them, no one touch's my boats but them anymore.

Do you think you will need a strake or something on the hull to keep it from sliding?

I don't want anything hanging down under the boat. I'll get used to it. It slid befor, just not as easy. The whole idea of this boat is to run shallow, so I can get over ledges and rocks to get to the smallmouth.
